People take your questions too literally...don't they? The "chemicals" would hopefully make them more pleasant; maybe less scary!

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Allah did not create a disease without a remedy, so seek the remedy.”
All things are created by God; disease and cures included. God wants you to live a long and healthy life:
“Allah wants ease for yourself and not difficulty.”
(Al-Baqarah 2: 185)
If said chemicals can save your life or better your life, then yes, it is permissible to use them in Islam because they were created by God as the cure for your ailments.
