It is not drug ridden where I live there is just the stigma of them. Actually, it is fenced in community, they are brand new, sort of like town homes on two levels a park is in the front yard of some of the apartments. Our community rehabed them years ago and now the commuinty comes to them. They have a great after school programs, the local library comes out with the book mobile, a health clinic is open here monthly, and the community tries to bring resources to help the peopl who live here and the police presences makes me feel safer. I am a single parent of 3 trying to obtain my bachlors in the next 2 semesters. I can barely make ends meet paying 800 dollar rent, and the billls even though I work FT and go to school. Since the rent is so low (like 20 dollars, i could have more quality time with my kids, improve my credit, and go higher in school. Would you do it if you were me? How can you get rid of the stigma attached to living there?

I just wouldn't tell anyone that I moved there. I mean, your neighbors aren't going to rag on you, they live their too. And any higher society friends that you have, well they don't have to know about it.

you can't no matter where you really are you are not safe. I still in a homey enviroment and the other county next to mine is norfolk which has a crime rate. A person shot a man in norfolk and ran to chesapeake, and hid under my deck. My dog is a pitbull and she was locked up a the time. The man broke my window trying to get in. At my mom's rich neighborhood we had a man try to break in and my dad ran upstairs and shot the man in the leg. No matter where you are, you are not truly safe. Acheive your goals you are doing the best you can do. Just show your children the better side in life. You are a great mom thinking of your children and you will always do it for them. They are your world and it's good you think about them with such detail. Good luck and I pray for you to get out of your problems and continue a peaceful life.

I would move there, but I wouldn't have my friends come over to visit. I wouldn't stay there more than a year or two though. There is no way to get rid of the stigma as far as I know....just don't tell anyone you live there.

If it was to better my future i would do it, but not get stuck in the system, it is easy to take that route but if you do not have a choice and it is a good enviornment to have your children it I say you have to do what you have to do.
