I don't know, it didn't seem to do much for me. I began weening off of it and had horrible withdrawal symptoms, felt sick, had dizzy spells, etc. It sucked, but I hung in there. I am now on Lexapro and it seems to be helping me more than Effexor ever did. Good luck to you! It's hard to find the perfect balance.

Been taking it for more than two years, have had a great experience with it. It helps with anxiety too, which often goes hand in hand with depression. The only side effect that never fully went away is sometimes I wake up at night with night-sweat, but it's a very small price to pay. I was taking Zoloft before that, which I thought was also pretty good but had more side effects, made me feel spacey or speedy at times, Effexor is much "cleaner." Hope you have good luck

My experience with Efexor was awful. I became suicidal and I felt worse. Once I got off of it , I felt a lot better. But it also depends on the person. For my mother it helped her but for others it didn't.

My experience wasn't a very good one. The side effects for me was it gave me suicidal thoughts and plunged me into a very deep depression that had me hospitalized twice. I have a depressive disorder but never had it get to the point that this drug caused. I worry about anyone taking this drug but I guess it's good for only a select few. I now take Celexa and it works wonders.
If you take this medication and notice a change that is dark and gloomy it could be this. Just be careful.

I am also taking effexor....300mg a day. I suppose it helps, hard to be sure really, how would I feel if I didn't take it?
The only thing I really hate about it is that even if I'm a little late taking them I get really lightheaded and dizzy especially if I move about. This then goes on for hours even after I have taken them!

I found it to be better than Paxil with fewer side effects. Zolof really sent me for a loop with it's side effects. Depression is a dibilitating illness but with good family support , friends who understood my situation & an employer who took an interest I've done extremely well. Best Wishes my friend.....
