Does everyone mingle with everyone else? Is it like one whopping great dinner party? Are spirits 'tribal', in the sense that they only stick with other spirits (family/friends etc) they knew when they were alive? Does everyone float around on big clouds?

I'm not trying to be facetious, I just find the concept of heaven very difficult to grasp.

Ok, assuming SOME people get there. Or are you implying no one gets there??

People are going to get on each other's NERVES in heaven???? Does that mean you can have disagreements in heaven? Arguments? Fights? Doesn't sound much like heaven to me.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE, no copying and pasting huge chunks of the bible. I am simply not going to read it.

For goodness sake. For anyone who thinks the number of living outweigh the number of dead, why not try looking up some sites instead of just assuming your illogical and ill conceived preconceptions.

I've seen my family tree going back about 11 generations, and some of the earlier branches are incomplete. Even going back to around the 18th century, it's pretty obvious that there are an awful lot of dead people out there! For every living relative on this tree there must be 6 dead ones - and that's only going back a few hundred years. As for heaven, it must be there because I've seen the same 'vision' of the pearly gates and St Peter in loads of cartoons in the daily tabloids - and they should know. Once successfully through the gates, newly dead people shuffle along to the viewing deck, where they look out over earth and tut-tut at all the atheists being sarcastic towards religions on Yahoo Answers.

"The Dead" meaning those people who have previously lived on Earth and are now not living? I'm not sure where you get this number from...counting from when...and who?

There are now nearing seven (7) BILLION living souls on the overcrowded face of this Earth at the moment (6.7 billion, according to the World POP clock, see below)...and counting! This is compared to just shy of 4 billion just 35 years ago. Now, assuming that 25% (purely a guess) of the 1970 population is now 'deceased', or around 1 billion people, and all of the population that were alive at the turn of the 20th century (a few may be around, but not statistically significant), add another 1.6 billion, AND about twice that number had lived and died since the first 'human'...we still only come up to a figure about equal the current population. Certainly NOT 30:1...AND if you were to believe in reincarnation, the population of 'heaven' would not be that large.

As to the second part of your question...what does 'heaven' look like and what these souls may or may not be doing, at any given time, is an exercise in the sublime imagination! My opinion is that the need for physical representations once we leave this physical world is transitory, at best...which is to say that perhaps some 'people' experience the 'afterlife' as 'heavenly'...or hellish...as to their mortal belief system may have predicted. So, go ahead, imagine it to be any way you want...and you're probably right...for you...:)

Think about it some more. In 1969 we had 200 MM people in the US, today we have 300 MM and in 1910 we had 100 MM. Do you personally see any difference around you? The point is that with numbers that big, the growth around you will happen without much impact to your small part of the world. The same will be true in Heaven. You will have a small circle around you and the number of "others" will have no impact on you because you can't possibly know them all or experience their presence.

If you went from 10 people to 20 you could imagine knowing them all. Going from a planet with 6+ BB to a place with 90+ BB (using your numbers) can't really be meaningful numbers.

Don't worry, when you get there, you'll have plenty of friends and family to catch up with for eternity:-) And luckily some extras if those get on your nerves.

Most religions that believe in heaven also believe that they will be with their loved ones. Sounds like a small circle of friends and family to me.

In Christianity, the Belief is that all those who go to heaven will be among each other but also have a dwelling/place for themselves

John 14:2 (King James Version)
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

half of the dead aint going to heaven, more will burn in hell.
good question, it really makes sense. i dont think there is a heaven cuase i cant imagin it.

ps dont read random books explaining how heaven is like. read the bible to find that out. those are most likely to be cooked up by som1s imagination

The Bible teaches that most of mankind has an earthly hope. We were created as humans because that is what we are... human...and the earth was created for humans...with everything we need to exist here, the right atmosphere, the right food...and so on. We are humans, we can't imagine heaven or life in heaven because we weren't meant to be heavenly creatures...the heavenly creatures were meant to be heavenly creature. With the exception of a very limited number of humans who were bought from the earth to rule with Christ for a thousand years, the rest of us have hope of the resurrection back to life on earth, or if we are living at the time of the end of this system of things, then life everlasting on earth.

Referrences: Psalms 37: 9-11, 2938, & 40
For evildoers themselves will be cut off,
But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.
10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.
11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it.
38 But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together;
The future of wicked people will indeed be cut off.
40 And Jehovah will help them and provide them with escape.
He will provide them with escape from wicked people and save them,
Because they have taken refuge in him.
New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures

Revelation5:9-10: (9) And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, (10) and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”

Revelation 14: 1-3 :(1) And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.(2) And I heard a sound out of heaven as the sound of many waters and as the sound of loud thunder; and the sound that I heard was as of singers who accompany themselves on the harp playing on their harps. (3)And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth

Read the first chapter of Genisis before Adam sinned in the garden and the last few chapters of Revelations. God has plenty for us to do when we get to heaven.

you should read the book "The Lovely Bones." It puts the idea of heaven in a really reasonable perspective.

it says that there are multiple heavens, but anyone can travel to any heaven they wish. they 'live' in one specific heaven and stay mainly there.

A really amazing book. Check it out

It is scary, but not a big percentage will get there, and it says we will know all there is to know, so, I don't think there will be factions grouped by beliefs or ideas. Maybe it is one big feast and mansion
