it has to be the most annoying thing, if you're going to talk on the phone with someone, at least have some respect for the person on the other line.

I don't like it either.

My favorite thing to do is stop talking mid-sentence or not continue the conversation. Usually the person with the loud TV, music, etc will ask "You still there?" "Where'd you go?", etc. My answer: "Oh, I didn't know you still wanted to talk. I thought your TV show (or music) was more important than chatting with me." That usally gets them to turn it down or off. Some smarty-azzes will say I said that last time. I reply then don't call me if you don't want to talk & would rather listen to the TV or your music.

Exactly. There is nothing so annoying as trying to hear what someone is saying on the phone while in a pub with music on loudly in the background or people shouting for drinks.

Amen. I always turn down the TV, radio etc. It's a big deal to me. Also I can't stand people who sit there watching their television loudly while your having a conversation. What ever happened to phone etiquette?

i know exactly what u're saying, i can't even concentrate on the conversation if there is something going on behind me. Just say oh i can't hear u several times until they get the hint, or if they don't say well call me later when ur not busy!

I hate that. Or your on the phone with someone and they aren't even talking to you but like watching tv or something. And they are the one that called you in the first place!!
