Sounds to me if your ex and your man have the same name, then it won't matter if it's after the dad or the ex... you can have your cake and eat it to so to speak! But if I were you I'd be careful not to tell the daddy that it's after the ex bf... and about the junior,... it's really up to you and your husband, but that is so tough on kids to be labeled with that JR thing! I'd drop it if I were you... just let go of that bf problem or you won't have a happy man around and it will eat you up eventually! No more confusion, problem solved! ;0) Good luck and happy parenting!

How about giving your kid a chance to carve his own way in life and giving him his OWN name? I understand that you'd like to give him the name of your ex or your man which may be the same, but maybe you can give him that name(s) as his middle name. That way, the boy has an opportunity to fill his own shoes.

I think that's kinda messed up to name your kid after your ex but since your ex and your baby-daddy have the same name then I dunno- if you are going to think about your ex every time someone says the name then thats not cool. Try something else

Name him after his real dad. Not your ex-boyfriend! I think this is clear, do you really think the kid would like to be called after your ex? No, not even the dad would like that. He would like his name for his son.

If they have the same first name, what type of question would this be? For you to explain to him when he is older that He is not Joe Jr for his Dad Joe, but for your ex love Joe, then that would be your personal choice.
