The guy sits behind me and constantly belches. I can handle a few throughout the day, but he is constantly belching. I counted once and he belched 10 times in about 30 minutes. It is driving me insane, and each time I get up to ask him to please stop, I just bite my tongue and deal with it. I need some suggestions please!!!!!!!

We have a standing joke at our house when someone does that. We usually say something like "wow, that was sexy". We all know that it's not the most polite thing to do, but I would rather it come up than come out a different way. Sometimes people can't help it though, it's very painful for them to keep it in and gives them indigestion. Which I wonder if that's the case seeing how excessive it seems to be.

I wish I could help you on this one better, but it appears that it's medical.

Are you allowed to listen to music? I figure if he's burping under his breath then a little music at your desk could drown that out.

If he belches that much, he might have a medical condition and has no control over the belching. Be glad that he tried to do so quietly.

Just say, "I don't want to offend you, but...", just be polite and understanding.

Tell him in the morning BEFORE he starts belching. That way you will be in a good mood. Saying something while angry will hinder your ability to stay calm. If you don't tell him, he will continue to do it and one day you will explode in rage... Not Good For Your Own Mental Health At All...

my brother in law lives with us and he does it too, i once told him u need to take some beeno it sounds like u do have a problem, but he is my bro in law so i could say that, maybe politely tell him that u notice he belches quite often and u can say i know someone who had that same problem, he took some, and suggest some kind of gas meds.

is the belching on purpose or is it involuntary?
when i burp it is usually involuntary.
so how could he stop?
the problem is you are letting this bother you.
can you try to accept it?
can you change your attitude?
maybe this is a habit with the person, like nailbiting?
maybe you could move or turn up your music?
i suggest yoga to be more peaceful and accepting inside yourself.
imagine if you worked next to a disabled person on oxygen and had to listen to that oxygen machine all day.
would it make you insane? or could you deal?
and why if there is a difference in your attitude?

I would casually bring up some other behavior that gets on my nerves, then casually point out that "the other day i heard someone belching continuously, and i almost lost my kewL." Then say "oh, that was you!" "I can't talk to anyone that does that.

If he's doing it under his breath, it's obviously not something he can control. Maybe you can offer him some help, and save your nerves as well, by offering him some Gas-X or figuring out what he's eating that's making him burp so much. He might actually need to go to the Dr. Sounds like something might be wrong.

Poor guy. I bet he doesn't really enjoy belching that much. I recommend that you can just ask your boss to move you, if you are distracted.

He might have a problem if it's that bad. He might not be able to or know how to control it.
. . .but it's no excuse for him being rude.
Just ask him if he's okay each time and if he need a tums.
He'll get sick of you pointing it out.
Or you being annoyingly helpful.

Your problem might be small compared to his. He might be having stomach cancer.........frequent belching is a sign of stomach cancer. Tell him to get a checkup on it.
