please please please do research on the artists. go to an actual tattoo "artist" not someone who just does a stencil of a generic picture. you will be glad you did. my first three tattoos were "flash" or generic tattoos off the wall. i am now in the process of covering them up with "actual art" one of a kind art that can't be reproduced anywhere else by anyone else. take a few pictures of the type of flower that you like and ask them to draw a custom one for you. if they tell you they don't "do that" then go somewhere else. if they draw it and it doesn't look like you think it should, ask them to do things differently or go somewhere else. also, ask to see a portfolio of tattoos they have done. just because someone tattoos doesn't mean that they are an artist. you will be extremely glad later on if you take the time to do this, i promise.

You can take that photo to any tattoo artist and tell them that you want a custom tattoo. They should be able to draw one up for you and incorporate anything else into it that you may want. A good artist will be able to give some recommendations as well, because in all honesty where you have the tattoo placed will effect the appearance so they should a have a good understanding of musculature and curves as well. It makes all the difference in the world to go to a good artist. May cost a little more, but hey it's permanent, you want it done right!

Try drawing your own, you never know what you can come up with, even if you aren't that great of an artist. And as long as you know what you want and can get your point across, your tattoo artist should be able to make the pic better to do the actually ink off of.
Just get a few pics of that flower, or trace some and fool around a bit and see what you like. You'll like your tattoo much better if you know its an original because you came up with it yourself.

You're best bet is to go to a tattoo artist. they are artists for a reason. These guys/gals make their living by designing tattoos. You can take the picture in and say I want this to be more original. They'll come up with a few ideas and you can choose which one is best for you. It helps to go in with an idea, it helps them out a lot. They have something to go on that way.

You could take the picture and have it drawn by the tattoo artist themself (a well skilled tattoo artist should be able to create original and custom designs for their customers). But if you really want to see what you can test out online there is a site you can go to that has lots of galleries and tattoo info, PLUS there is a link where you can get a custom tattoo drawn for you. Just go to the website, scroll down, and on the bottom right hand of the screen there is a link you can click. It says "custom tattoos". I hope this helps!

I have an original skull on my leg. I just gave a vague idea of what I wanted to the artist and he took a pen and drew me an original right onto the skin. It is not an original idea because I know a lot of people have skull tattoos, but I know that nobody else will have the same one I have. I don't know you, so I can't say which one is most 'you', but I would prefer the skull and snake.

I'd suggest sitting down with an artistic friend and some pictures of flowers similar to the one you want - listen to some cool tunes and just doodle until you find an idea that you like - then build on it.
you may find that that's all you need to do but otherwise, book an appointment with a really good tattooist - take your design along and ask them to build on it with you.
they're professionals and they know what they're doing but Obviously, if you're not happy with what they come up with - don't feel you can't question it. It's your tattoo.

If you have the tattoo guy draw it and make it completely original, you will love it much longer than if you just got a picture off of a website and took it in.

You can take your own picture into most tattoo parlors. If you have any friends or relatives who have artistic talent, tell them what you are looking for and ask them to draw it for you. That will save you the extra expense of having a tattoo artist make the drawing for you.

Most tattoo artists are creative. Why dont you do some local research, look through the portfolios, and go from there.
