As for effectiveness in killing bacteria, almost all mouth washes are the same. In a pretty rough study in dental school, groups of dental students (me among them) rinsed with different mouth washes then spit in test tube added water and smeared a few drops on a petri dish at intervals immediate following..5 minutes....10 minutes...15 minutes. With the exception of chorohexidine which you can only get through your dentist, the bacterial concentrations were back to normal in 15 minutes...(listerine lasted 10 minutes...one of the longer ones...crest wasn't tested) Water was used as a control and also decreased the amount of bacteria in your mouth for about 5 minutes. In other words...Rinsing with the majority of mouth rinses are equally effective. All this being said...go with one that tastes better.

Crest because the fresh smell lasts longer than listerine

Crest, because alcohol is not needed to kill germs and the alcohol just dries out your mouth.

I would think it depends on the condition of your teeth. I was just at a dentist and they told me to start using ACT mouthwash to hopefully reverse some decay. I may not be using the correct termenology but just ask your dentist is my guess
