I was hit by a guy running a red light and wasn't seriously injured but expect to be very sore for a couple of weeks. I am an actor and under contract to perform a live show, so taking time off is not an option- it would end my career in this town, so I have to work in pain. Also, I am unable to use painkillers or muscle relaxers due to a history with drug abuse, so the pain is full on. I don't feel the need to contact an attorney, but feel I should be compensated somewhat for this guy's negligence.

Oh please! The only thing an attorney will do is make your claim pend longer and take 1/3 of the $ the insurance company would offer you anyway.

Assuming you have no treatment, really your claim is worth nothing. That's the indicator of your pain. But some insurance companies, recognizing that you suffered some might give you up to a thousand dollars or so to go away(don't hold out for 1k though, that's a pretty high estimate). No treatment-no injury. If you just got checked out probably 500-1,000. It's not the lotto.

There's no way of knowing what kind of compensation you should be looking at for Pain and Suffering. All insurance companies figure that out differently. You're best bet is to consult a lawyer. It's free until you get a settlement and lawyers will generally get you a whopping more money than you alone will do.

One thing you should be aware of is that many insurance claim adjuster don't consider soft tissue "pain" or "bruising" to be of any acute concern. That's where a lawyer will help. If you don't have any broken bones or major injuries, you won't get much.

Good luck with the show (it must go on!) and I hope you do feel better soon.

"Whiplash" can mean something from slightly a stiff neck to intense long-status problems, so this is somewhat complicated to assert incredibly. If he's had to have some days off artwork he must be waiting to declare for the lack of ability of earnings. As for the reimbursement for the harm itself, I relatively have consulted the judicial study board regulations for you, which say as follows: Neck injuries (Minor) Minor gentle tissue and whiplash injuries etc the place indicators are average: (i) and an entire restoration occurs interior approximately 2 years; £2,550 to £4,575 (ii) with an entire restoration between some weeks and a year; £750 to £2,550 based on the information you have given, i might estimate which you would be staring at around £1500.

Why wouldn't you consult a lawyer? Most auto-accident lawyers work on contingency, meaning they don't get paid unless you win.

I was involved in an accident also where my car was totalled and I was injured (the airbag went off but I was not severely injured). I had to see a chiropractor for 4 months.

We ended up settling out of court for $12k for injuries plus cost of the car.

It's free to contact an atty and if you don't the insurance co. will rip you off! Being an actor and all I'm sure you would want the higest amount available to you. The atty. won't get paid unless you do so...do yourself a favor and call one!
