I have 2 cats and sometimes they decide that they are still real cats and howl and prowl around at night. But most of the time they would rather cuddle up with one of us and sleep, you know most cats want 16 to17 hours of sleep to stay fat and lazy, heehee. Actually cats are independent little boogers and each has its own personality..like I have a Maine Coon who doesn't meow she whines. Just this last weekend my daughter was gone and "Precious" whined all night because she was gone. then Mickey Mouse our tuxedo kitty yells loud usually to let me know he is going to bed. The more activity they get in the early evening will help wear them out and they will soon decide sleep is a better idea.
But I also want to say both our cats are fixed and that helps them not to be so concerned with yowling. Good Luck.

Usually cats won't howl ALL night unless something is wrong, or there's one or more of them that wants to mate.

To stop the caterwalling, get your cats spayed/neutered, and at the same time, have the vet give them a complete physical check up (to make sure there's nothing medically wrong going on).

If they keep howling after that, then it's a training issue, and you'll have to spend several sleepness nights IGNORING THE NOISE before they'll stop.

Do you have any idea what they're meowing at? Ours meow for specific reasons, like the following:
I'm out of water
I think I see a bug on the wall/ceiling/some place I can't reach
I want in/out so open the door
I think it's dinner time
I see another animal outside
I don't know where you are

We also have one that just likes the sound of her voice in small rooms, I guess for the echo. We keep the doors shut to these types of places and that halts the singing.

My cat does that sometimes too. We try to keep her awake in the evening because she loves sleeping in the evening, then is up all night. Try to play with her and yell to wake her up, ha ha.

You are supposed to ignore cat when meowing or else any attention paid is a reward. This doesn't seem to help us though. We tried putting her in the laundry room at night, but that was even worse, her clawing at the door and meowing was worse. Good luck.

If he's getting what he needs then why might he quit? additionally, placed funds right into a pair of ear plugs! they are golden. the reason he could be searching for a lot love interior the night time is using fact he's bored. Cats must be mentally inspired too. while you're in college all day he could be feeling lonely and searching for somebody to play with. considering the fact that cats are nocturnal creatures, night time is their well known time to play! He sleeps each and every night and seems to be like a lot happier. He cried for over a year all night long, yet I even have not heard him cry at night using fact the day I moved. i ask your self no remember if it incredibly is an area element? perhaps they experience extra on top of problems with the section while it incredibly is a smaller area? perhaps evaluate getting yet another cat. i recently delivered abode a kitten approximately 2 weeks in the past and my cat is in heaven. He likes to play with the kitten all day long. This helps retaining him from losing interest while i'm no longer abode. I even have on no account considered him so happy interior the finished time I even have had him.

Is the cat Spayed or Neutered? Many times cats that aren't yell to "go out on the town"
Also sometimes cats may yell if they have a medical problem such as a urinary tract infection, my cat is prone to urinary infections and that's how I always know he has another.
I would get him to a vet, make sure his health is ok, and get him/her neutered/spayed if it isn't!
