Homeschooling will be better for your children if you make it better for them. End of story.

If you want them to have interaction with others, then make sure they have it. If you want them to get what they need educationally, then make sure they have it.

Those who complain about sheltered homeschooling kids don't seem to think deeply enough to realize that it is how the parents chose to homeschool and not homeschooling itself that creates sheltered kids. Homeschooling is what parents make of it.

Well, I can only tell you what I think from the experience that I've had. I've been to an ACE school (with paces or whatever. I'm not sure if you are familar with that), I've been homeschool, and now I'm at a private school that has normal books and stuff from public schools. First let me say, I would NEVER send my child to an ACE school--ever. The reason being that you don't learn everything you need to know. When kids are homeschooled, they can learn what they need to know they just need to have a person there willing to help them and be there to tell them what they need to do. Personally, my favorite school is the one that I am at now, because they have more things to do (like activites with friends). If you're worried homeschooling with prevent your children from having friends, you may want to look into a good private/public school or see if there is any homeschooling activites in your area that take homeschooled kids out for a day. I know they have a group in Baton Rouge that actually has a softball & baseball team just for homeschoolers. I hope I could help =)

Home schooling may be good or can be bad. It depends on how is curriculum run and a system around that. Culture is also influence this activity. You can consider if homeschooling is done in developing country, it will be so difficult, cause many children have not yet adapt this situation. Financial problem and cultural factor fully qualified can disturb that program. It will be better if the goverment apply new innovation to run that. Different way as developed country. the system was be complex and very structured educational system. Good and as example for the other developing country. Education consideration has a quite important factor of success, cause with that, we can learn anything well.

If you do your homework and find the very best resources to fit your family then yes, homeschooling will be better for your children.

There are so very many resources available that make it very worthwhile to homeschool. There are millions of children that are currently homeschool students. You will not have any problems finding those that are a good fit to be friends with your children.

Start with www.hslda.org and find your state organizations -- talk in person with other people that are home-schooling their families. Local people will be very helpful. Ask questions and meet as many as you can.

Educational material can be found in many places. You can buy it new and used. Some people even give it away or trade among themselves.

Home-schooling is by far better for children.

Here's a bit from a homeschooled kid's point of view. I'm nearly thirteen, and have been taught by my mother since I was in fourth grade. The public school I was in before that was quite good, but moving to a different state caused us to start homeschooling. It's convenient in ways, such as not having extra work to do when you've finished the lesson - it's all "homework." And, your kids can learn at their own pace.

I have one older brother who is also homeschooled, and it is fine for us, but if you have 4 children they will probably start getting a little tired of being together all day. It IS hard to get along with your sibling(s) all day every day.

I really dislike hearing people say that homeschooled kids don't interact enough with other people, in most cases it really isn't true - look into getting involved in a homeschooling group if you choose to teach them at home.

Hey, best of luck! I believe it's a fine option.

I'm 14 and I've been home schooled all my life and I personally don't like being home schooled.

One of the reasons is my parents don't have the time to educate me so they expect me to educate myself. And if I don't know something they always yell at me for not knowing something but how am I supposed to know something if no one had the time to teach me it.
Also I don't have many friends and in the home school groups in my area they all mix the ages together when we have an home school activity. And you can't expect a 14 year old to be friends with a 8 year old.
Also home school doesn't have JV or varsity sports teams.

Now I'm not saying home school is bad, that just my opinion. I know other home schoolers who absolutely love it, and I know some who don't (like me) it all depends on the person. Everyone has there own opinion on home schooling.

Have you asked your children if they want to be home schooled? How are your kids in school? Do they get picked on, do they have good grades, do they have friends?

All I can say is home school is not for everyone and school is not for everyone.

But if you think home schooling is better for your kids then yeah go for it. Try out home schooling and if it works well with you and your kids then home school is probably the best thing for them.

Good luck!!

I homeschool my two girls and I think its better for them. yes they won't have as many friends but they can meet them at the functions we go daily. The schools weren't giving my children what they needed, plus there is no diversity and I did not my children to be singled out. Its good because you can see what is being taught you don't have a time frame to finish. You can learn anywhere not just sitting at a desk all day long.

Personally I would definitely send my children to school. There is no point me exalting the good things about this system, because everyone already has. Home school does cut off a social life and normal school provides vital skills. If you are worried about how well they are doing at school then give them extra lessons, tutors, and ask their teachers. Do not take them away from school. You will regret it and so will they.

I am a mother of five, and will begin home-schooling my three oldest children next year. Our church has "small groups", and some of them are geared for home-school families. They do field trips once a month and various activities throughout the year.

As far as athletics (team sports and such), nearly every city here in Louisiana has local or district teams sponsored by youth associations; I paid about $50 for my son to play T-ball, before he went to Kindergarten.

There are plenty of options if you look.

They'll have less bullet holes. They can learn at their own pace. Most areas have support groups for special topic studies and field trips. They will have an excellent student-teacher ratio. You can schedule their education around your families specific needs and desires.
There are many studies showing that homeschoolers are better behaved, better educated, and better prepared to meet life's challenges than non-homeschoolers. They have less emotional scarring inflicting by the meat grinder that is modern public education.
Most importantly, they'll know that you cared enough to sacrifice so much to give them the best education out there.
All the best and you will not regret it.
