Isn't that how it's done? Pick out the bits that suit you, the parts you can live with comfortably and deny the rest.

Every branch of christianity do this, otherwise their followers would be able to see for themselves exactly what they are worshipping and get rather angry! I was a christian, I was very involved in my church too, until I did some research and found that the bible isn't very nice when you take the blinkers off.
I believe that the Judas gospel is real and that the churches are cacking themselves at the thought that people may start to open their eyes and look at what the church, and I mean every denomination, really is.

There are 4 gospels that are acceptable as part of the new testament. There were dozens, even hundreds of gospels - and many different versions of them that were considered for inclusion in the new testament. The four chosen wer considered the most authoritative, with few variances and known provenance. The others, including the so-called gospel of judas, did not share these qualities and were rejected as being authoritative. This rejection makes no judgment on the veracity of the documents, only on the fact that they were somewhat questionable in their authenticity and transmission.

Well Vlad III the Impaler, in order to write a gospel, you would have to witness the events, which is why the apostles were able to write the gospels. The gospels were written in the first century, while the gospel of Judas was written in the fourth century by someone else.
I hope this helps you.

The 4 gospels were chosen for two main reasons. They were what the majority of churches were already using as gospel at the time and they were able to verify the sources and find enough corroberating evidence.

The gospel of Judas was not accepted by the early church because it did not have any form of divine origin and the church voted it out because it lied about what they knew to be true.

Where can I get this judas gospel that the bible-thumpers don't like? I don't have to buy the big book to get it, do I? I think I might like bits of this judas character. Let's make him the atheist's god!

It's an unsupported composition, but all of the books of the Bible support each other. The time periods are not all the same but the books of the Bible still support each other.
That's why the judas gospel that you speak of is considered a lie.

I'm not saying it is lies and I'm not saying the other gospels are true and I'm sure i don't pick out any bits to suit myself so why are you so confused...?.
Or is it the fact, or maybe you are starting something new yes!!!!.

The Catholic Church pick out the bits that were divinely inspired (known as the New testement) and ordered that the heretical ones be burned such as the Judas gospel. People didnt listen and jsut decided to hide them thinking that, even though they were not true, they were an important peice of history. Which is why they hid them instead of burning them. And now theyve been found and peolpe beleive them.

You obviously need to do more research before asking this question.......remember..."The DaVinci Code" was fiction.

I am not denying that the Judas Gospel exists, but it is sort of like reading the National Enquirer and thinking it is an Encyclopedia......
