You must be really young or really watch too much tv.
If you LOVE him, then you know him. His favorite things, you can rely on him emotionally, you have a relationship deeper than coworkers on many levels.
Now you say you don't know if he likes you? Then you are worshipping someone you dont know. You like the look of him. You like the things he says at work. But if you are not dating, and are nothing more than coworkers, you have a crush (like on a tv star..one sided).
Now, if you want to know if he likes you, ask him out.

I good manager would not start an intimate relationship with a subordinate. You might fall out of love and make a sexual harrassment claim.

In the first place this can bring nothing but problems. Think about it. He's a manager and your a subordinate? it can't work.
He's going to be getting problems about you getting favors, there'll be favorite slurs going about, he's going to have problems, from you.
If you have a union there, your dead meat. It's better to leave it go unless you can transfer to another department away from him.

did you just ask a question about him? come on already... do you have a 'daddy complex' or something? you like authority figures treating you like crap and telling you what to do? you can't love somebody you don't know intimately. and if you don't even know him well enough to know how he feels about you, I'd say you arent' too intimate...

if he tries to pretend that he doesn't notice You - You know - that is a psychology for one type of men - they would do everything to hide that they like particular woman ... maybe because they are scared of relationships or because they think they are not worth it or thousands of other reasons...
