The snake which was Satan talked the same language cause otherwise Eve would have been afraid and not understood him as well. The language apparently had to come from God. Now in the bible a donkey spoke to Saul and Birds (certain kinds) talks also. As for other animals I cannot say but believe they have some type of communications skills among themselves. So far as the reasoning part of any animal I don't think so. Angelic beings and the spirit of the lord can appear and talk through anyone and with anyone.

keep in mind that at this point in biblical history, there were no language barriers. supplimentary to this question, a great one would be, "have we ever heard the language that will be spoken in heaven?" my guess is no.
In Genesis 11, we learn that the result of the building of the tower of Babel was the confusion of languages. It is reasonable to assume that there were no language gaps before this event.
As for the snake. It is a tough call for us to try to figure out exactly what went on with the snake and satan. Did satan take the form of a snake? If so, why was the snake punished with slithering and eating dust? Did satan possess a snake? This would seem more reasonable, as God punishes the snake (because we can kind of guess that the snake was okay with being possessed).
Nature is a funny thing when it comes to the spiritual realm. We know that Nature groaned under the weight of sin (Romans 8.22) We also know that Christ said that if He silenced the mouths of the people that the rocks would cry out (19.40). We know that Balaam's donkey spoke to him - and it could perceive that there was an "angel of the Lord" standing in front of him when Balaam could not. (Numbers 22).
As for the reasoning, it definitely was not the snake, but rather Satan who was the "subtil" one spoken of in Genesis 3.
Good subject. Keep searching, although i don't know if we'll know on this side of eternity.

Satan the devil used the serpent to talk to Eve and he knew the language. After all, he was a good angelic "son of God" before he became wicked and rebelled against his Creator. He saw when God created the first human pair, and so would know their form of speech. Why Satan chose to use a serpent, the Bible does not say. Eve should have known that something was wrong, when a snake was able to talk as she did, but sadly as God's Word says--she was thorougly deceived.
This should make people realize just how powerful the devil is and do everything in their power to resist the temptations he puts before us.

The talking serpent was none other than satan, who as lucifer fell from heaven when he willfully sinned(recall, he attempted to dethrown God and failed). So when he fell from heaven, he came to earth - retained the same language as he had in heaven, the language God speaks, and the language Adam and Eve spoke = Hebrew!!
Satan took the form of a snake to deceive Eve.
He could have taken any form. In actuality it was a type of cross between a lizard and a snake, because he was able to crawl. When God cursed satan-the serpent, he was then only able to slither on its belly.
Only that particular serpent, which satan inhabited/possessed was able to speak. No other snakes and no other animals or reptiles were able to speak. "All this info. is the Truth."
You can take it or leave it. Choose to believe it or reject it. It is up to you.
Hope this helps.

Well, the Bible suggests that Satan APPEARED as a snake in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Thus, it was not actually a snake. Drawing an analogy between Halloween (which is today), would you say "where did this ghost learn to speak english and ask me for candy?!" I don't think so. Just because a child is disguised, does not mean it is no longer a child.
(I do, however, think "Narnia" was a pretty dang good answer.)

The snake was not talking on its own. It was used as a ventriloquist uses a dummy, by a highly intelligent spirit person who was alive well before Adam and Eve were created, and was able to use human language, because he was there when it was imparted to humans. That one is called the original serpent the Devil and Satan in Revelation 12:9

We do not know about the other animals, but the particular snake itself was possessed by Satan in the garden. Satan is an intelligent being that was caste out of heaven by God for rebellion, so he could use an animal to speak with Adam and Eve.

I have no scripture to back me up, so this is just me, ok?
Adam and Eve had powers before the fall that we might call telepathetic in today's parapsychology setting. Remember his garden that he tended was thousands of square miles, quite a feat, don't you think?
Animals with backbones are in a different class from insects and, let's say 'lower' lifeforms and comunicate non-verbally. Eve may have mistook the source of the communication.

The snake was an angel. A fallen angel from Heaven. We know him as Satan now.
