There could be a number of reasons, but two of the biggest factors that many people forget to consider are:
1. EATING HABITS. People eat a bunch of empty calories, candy, french fries, junk, and then think that their mind should work just fine. Don't forget that your mind depends on the health of their brain, which is a physical part of their body. Eat a good balanced diet and that should help.
2. SLEEPING HABITS. Many people run on short sleep and here agin, think that they should be able to keep up mentally, just as they would when they are caught up on their sleep. Be sure to get enough rest and your brain will be much clearer.

Almonds help concentration.
Try keeping all things you need nearby, but don't crowd the space around.
Try giving yourself small treats, like.. study hard till.. X Hours. Or, finish this chapter.. and then go for a walk, or have a candy..
Give yourself small goals.. and keep your momentum going.

College isn't for every one. You may be happier learning a useful trade.
If that didn't convince you and you want to take on the huge financial burden as well as losing four years of your life to the sorry excuse for higher education in this country then go to a vitamin store and ask them the same question you're asking this group of boring, loser desk jockeys.

Take a break, that is one of the reasons people cant concentrate they over load and their minds is trying to keep up but cant.So take a break and go relax.

Take breaks for excercise. Take walks, hikes, anything that will give your mind a break and you body lots of oxygen.
And be sure to get 7 t0 8 hours of sleep a nite.

When you study, make sure you go somewhere where there's little distraction. Go study in a local library if you have to. Make sure it's quiet and concentrate on your studies there.

dude, just relax and before every day make a schedule for what ur planning to do today,at the end of the night before you go to sleep see ur schedule and make sure that u made ur goals if not then reschedule ur plan for another day, and the important world is keep relax

their is something that a dr. can prescribe for you for the time being, don't take over the counter garbage their is a presc medication you take than wont harm you see a dr. good luck with your GED. You'll be fine you can do what ever you set your mind to do, don't give up seek pro help.
