I did and this is what happened....Part of my testemony....
ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND I WAS VERY DEPRESSED, WITH A HEART FELT CRY I CRIED OUT “IF THERE IS A GOD SHOW YOURSELF TO ME”. THE LORD WAS FAITHFUL IN ANSWERING THAT HEARTFELT PRAYER, NOT RIGHT AWAY BUT IN HIS TIME.
A FEW MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENED!
I WAS WORKING AT A RESTAURANT,EVERY WEDNESDAY A GROUP OF PEOPLE MET IN A ROOM THERE AT THE RESTAURANT. I KNEW THEY HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH GOD BUT I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THAT WAS.
THE GROUP WAS THE FULL GOSPEL BUSINESSMAN. THEY ARE A WORLD WIDE ORGANIZATION OF BUSINESSMAN THAT SERVE THE LORD.
ONE WEDNESDAY I WENT TO WORK AND I SAW AN AQUAINTANCE THERE THAT I HAD PARTIED WITH. I ASKED HIM WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE WITH THESE GUYS,HE TOLD ME TO COME AND FIND OUT FOR MYSELF.
THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY I HAD OFF SO I WENT AND ATTENDED ONE OF THE MEETINGS. I HEARD MEN SHARE THEIR TESTIMONIES AND SOME AMAZING STORIES OF HOPE AND FORGIVENESS.
THEY KNEW I WAS AN UNBELIEVER; I WENT THERE DRESSED IN JEANS AND A T-SHIRT I DID NOT LOOK LIKE A BUSINESSMAN. AT THE END OF THE MEETING THEY SARTED TO PRAY, I BOWED MY HEAD AND STARTED TO PRAY, THEY LAID HANDS OF ME. GODS POWER FILLED THAT ROOM, THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME AND HIS PRESENCE WAS SO STRONG, I HAVE NOT FELT IT THAT STRONG EVEN TO THIS DAY. I CANNOT PUT IT INTO WORDS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IN THAT ROOM, NO WORDS COULD GIVE IT AN
APROPRIETE EXPLANATION. IT WAS LIKE BEING REBORN BOTH PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. IT WAS A PHYSICAL AS WELL AS A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE. THIS SCRIPTURE BECAME REAL TO ME THAT DAY: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! I WAS RECONCEALED TO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST
AS THE MEN LAID HANDS ON ME AND WERE PRAYING I HEARD THEM PRAISING JESUS AND GLORIFYING HIM. THEY SAID TO EACH OTHER HE IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES. HE BEING ME. I LOOKED UP AT THEM AND SAID WHAT IS TONGUES, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE AND THEY SHARED WITH ME AFTER PRAYER WHAT IT WAS, I WAS STILL A LITTLE CONFUSED BUT AFTER GETTING INTO HIS WORD HE SHOWED ME WHAT THE GIFT WAS. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME; HE TRULY IS AN AWESOME GOD.

what never fails to amaze me is that devout religious fanactics are quite happy to sit and prove that they are the most narrow minded individuals on the planet. They are so narrow minded that they cannot accept that what they believe may just be wrong, that the bible may be a load of old shite, and that other reasons such as evolution may just be behind things.
surely God, if he did exist, would respect you more for being open minded.

I am an Atheist, but was born into a Catholic home and saved by the Christian church as a young teenager.
I DID ask that question, hundreds of times. I didn't ask for anything spectacular, just a sign. I prayed millions of times for many things, and got nothing in return. I did this fore many many many years, and finally, I got tired of waiting.
If he shows himself one day, I'll eat my words. But quite frankly, he doesn't exist.

Why would you presume we hadn't?
I became an atheist while translating the koine greek at a Baptist college. It was a fantastically painful experience and the last thing I expected or wanted.
But...yeah, I get used to this kind of question. Sort of.

God has called the believers to show God to other people.
One of my favorite songs is "Marks of the Mission" by Charles Billingsly.
We are the marks of the mission
We are the proof of all you've been through
The evidence of sin forgiven.
All that we have we offer to You
We've followed the call wherever it led us
It was worth every step of the way
We've come through the dark
Bearing the marks of the mission.
It is our job to show them the love of Christ. When they curse us, we still need to show them the love of Christ. When they mock God, we still need to show them the love Christ.
Remember that when Jesus was being crucified, they beat Him, mocked Him, scourged Him. And what did Jesus do, love them and offer grace to them.
Our lives are supposed to be the evidence of God and His love, mercy, and grace. God has called us to plant the seeds and He will give the increase.
We are the instruments He uses to show Himself to the world.

I've done so many times.
I begged him to do so right around the time that I left the Christian faith. Kind of shitty of him to not restore the faith of someone that desperately wanted to remain a Christian eh?
Gee, I wonder if perhaps the reason he didn't do so was because... he doesn't exist?
