Try leaving aluminum baking sheets out on the counters. When your cat jumps up there, the noise will scare her and she will jump down. After a few times she won't want to get back up there. And the answer about the water gun works great too.

When I first got my cat he would always jump up on the counters, and I read an idea in a cat book and it worked! You spray him with one of those squirty bottles for watering plants (or a water pistol) - only when he is actually on the counter. He soon learnt not to jump up as most cats hate getting wet. This isn't cruel - I would never do anything mean to my cat.

That's a tough one since they love to explore! However, there are pads you can place on your counters that give a very mild electric shock to the cat's foot that will quickly discourage him from getting on the counters. Once he learns not to jump up, you can remove the pads. It doesn't usually take more than a few attempts to teach the cat to stay down.
My cats would jump up and take whatever looked good, and I'd come back to the kitchen to see nothing but a drag mark on the floor to mark where my turkey or beef roast went! But keeping them down can be a matter of their own health and safety, too, if you're afraid they'll step on a hot stove burner or brush past the toaster.
Good luck.

Get a spray bottle and put cold water in it. Every time that the cat tries to jump on the counter, squirt the cat in the face with the water. It worked for me. ac

My sister is a registered vet tech and what she has done to stop our cats from getting on couters it took some double-sided tape and put on the edges of the counters. When the cats jump up and they hit the tape, they stop. We have also used a squirt bottle filled with water. When we see them on the counter, just a little squirt and they'er gone!! Good luck!!

Cover it with aluminum foil. A cat WILL NOT walk on aluminum foil. They don't like they way it feels, and it makes noise! Cover the counter with it a few times, he should stop.
I like the double sided sticky tape thing too, but that could make a sticky, hard to clean mess on your counter. And with the water bottle, what happens when you aren't home?

put masking tape on the counter and when he/she jumps on it they won't like the tacky feel of it. Or when you catch kitty on the counter spray some water at them and they'll get the hint not to go on the counter.

Well you may try taking everything off that they are interested in, but unless you are there and awake 24/7 it may be hard to stop. My girl would do it some and on occasion just to look out the window, but she stopped. The others only get up there rarely and usually at night so all we did was clean it off so they had no reason to want up there, now they never do it when we are there.

Make him afraid of Balloons and wherever you do not want him to be, leave a balloon there.
You blow a balloon up and if he plays with it and it POPS loud he will hate them.To make sure you can make other weird sounds with it to ensure the hate for a balloon. It also worked with my friends dog in her garden.Dog would not even go close to the balloon and she would tie the balloons around the garden and even when she was gone Voila' Garden Beautiful.PS.Do not let kids see you teach the animals fear since kids can be cruel when given power over animals.Good Luck.
