Hello,
There are two main organisations in the UK who financial institutions go to when seeking a credit report.

Equifax
You can get your Equifax Credit Report for £14.95, just visit Equifax's website to get the report at: www.equifax.co.uk

Experian
You can access your Experian Credit Report free for 30 days, then i think its £2 a month to access it after that. You can access it by visiting: www.experian.co.uk

Financial institutions go to these organisations for your credit report when you apply for a borrowing product. Those organisations do not tell the financial institutions to refuse you credit, they just provide your "financial footprints". It is the companies decision whether to allow you to buy the product or to refuse you.

If you are worried you are a victim of I.D. fraud then you can easily check your credit report via these organisations. You could also use a service provided by Equifax, which informs you if there are any changes to your credit report that they hold on you; this service costs around £7.50 a month.

Thanks

I believe the website is

http://www.freecreditreport.com

Please bear in mind that you are not seeing the same credit report that lenders do. Although it si pretty much the same it is presented to lenders differently.

There are three reporting agencies. TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax. TranUnion is generally conisdered the most accurate and representative. For many big purchases (cars, houses) a 'trimerge' is used. All three reports are pulled and the middle score is used as the primary score. The three scores can vary widely and it can take some time for debt that you have paid off to reflect on your report.

I think it is a good idea to keep tabs on your credit to protect yourself from fraud. I have seen the results and it can be devastating!! I check mine every six months or so.
