For those of you who have lived at Ft Lewis, Washington, what did you think of it? Why?

Loved it. There's a lot to do, and plus...I loved my husband's unit. I don't think we've felt so LOVED since we left there.
Are you heading there? If so, you should drive up to Port Angeles, and go down the coast from there. It is SO breathtakingly gorgeous. Especially Lake Crescent, http://www.ohwy.com/wa/l/lkcresce.htm.
The area has got a HUGE selection of restaurants, plus it's only a two to three hour drive from Portland Oregon, about an hour (depending on traffic) from Seattle, and about four or five hours from Canada (depending on traffic and how fast you want to drive.).
And Fort Lewis is a great post, lots of history there, and the housing isn't too bad. We lived off-post though, because BAH was so high.

I was stationed at Ft. Lewis when I was in the Army. I liked the view of snow-capped Mt. Rainier, but it does rain a lot there in the winter. It's a military base much like any other, but you can't beat the surrounding scenery.

I lived there for two years, we are still stationed there but my husband got deployed so i came to CO to be close to family.Ft lewis is very established because its been there for so long. There are lots of things to do on base, and even more off base.If you ever wanted to scuba dive, there is a 5 star dive center at MWR.I used to work there, GREAT people! Seattle is full of culture and activities. There is always something to do. I suggest ftlewis.com and also google things to do there. We go back for a year and im excited and kinda hoping we get that as our second duty station again.!
