Rum is always a good choice, especially as a social drink. I would stay away from the commonplace Bacardi and the like. Try a well aged rum from places like Guatemala, Nicaragua or Guyana. I have a preference for Cuban rum, however, you will not find that in the U.S. Try the classic and youthful choice of a Rum and Coke, or go for the minty crispness of a Mojito.
Do you enjoy red wines? I would suggest a full flavored, slow and sophisticated choice: a glass of Port.
Finally, I recommend a good cider if you are looking for a different experience. Ciders can be subtly sweet and very refreshing.

Try this with Champagne. one part OJ a shot of Chambord and Champagne. It makes an amazing Mimosa. Don't waste good Champagne on this. I found some Sekt from Trader Joes that works great. It's a German version made on the cheap. Cava from Spain also works nice. Nappa Sparkling wine same as Champagne is also good but more money. Only sparkling wine from Eperney and Reims is Champagne. Don't worry about it this is fun stuff no need for expensive bubbly. If you do use Champagne use extra dry which is sweeter or demi sec even sweeter. You want it sweeter. Brut is dry and extra Brut is real dry. A different version has ice cream in it.

My new favorite is a mango martini! I dont know if they have 'em in bars... I make mine at home. The mango mix is in those wiggly bottles (I think they sell it at even grocery stores since there's no alcohol in it)... where the bottles fit together if set next to each other. Sorry... I can't remember WHO actually makes it. But yeah, just put in a shaker with vodka and YUM. It is pretty fruity, but no more so than an apple martini.

A drink for an alcoholic or drinks that contain alcohol? lol. Try these three drinks.....I always order them for women and they seem to be happy with them. Tequila Sunrise, Long Island Iced Tea and try a simple Jack & Coke. Rules to go along with these drinks? Make sure #1 you always say please give me "Top Shelf" to the waitress/waiter....if they look confused simply say "the bartender will know"...and if you don't know what that means, it's definition is Liquors that are of the best quality for the drinks ordered. This is especially true of Long Island drinks....five different liquors so it is imperitive to have "top shelf"......top shelf does three things: tastes better, lasts longer and you won't get those headaches one can get later in the evening or in the early morning which is common. Lastly, with the jack/coke try a twist of lime and lemon and then play with how much Jack Daniels is put in your drink.....women don't often order jack/coke, but it is very good when you make it your own. Another trick is ask them to put a small shot of vanilla in your jack/coke. yum o rama. be well.

I like to get the Raspberry Vodka and Orange Juice. It's like a screwdriver but with a twist. The Raspberry takes away the sharp Vodka taste.
Or you could get what's called a Liquid Valuim
Southern Comfort
Peach Schnapps
Cranberry juice
Orange juice
Too many of those and you feel like you're hopped up on Valuim.

Mojitos (Sugar, Rum, Fresh Mint), SeaBreeze (Vodka, Grapefruit Juice, Cranberry Juice), BayBreeze( Vodka, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice), Ice Pick (Vodka & Iced Tea), 7&7 (Seagrams & 7-Up), Captain Morgan & Coke, and something I just discovered...Stoli Blueberry Vodka, Cranberry Juice & Tonic. Mostly I just drink beer though!

Sorry, I really like fruity and creamy drinks, so I don't think my propositions would suit you. But if you like Gin+Tonic, you like sort of bitter, so I would suggest lime margharitas for you (I personnally drink strawberry margharitas). Also champagne is great, or shampagne cocktails.

Here's a couple of suggestions for you:
Comfort Peach (double of peach schnapps, double of Southern Comfort, mixed with OJ) - might be a bit fruity for you, but it's gone over quite well with anyone I've served that to.
Southern Comfort & Lime shooter - (half SoCo, half sweetened lime juice, shaken with ice, strained into a shot glass) - although this is a shooter, I've mixed this drink up as a regular mixed drink and it's quite tasty.
White Russian - (shot of kahlua, shot of vodka, mixed with milk) - if done correctly, it will taste like a mocha coffee drink at starbucks. If this is a bit too milky/creamy for you but you like the general flavor of it, try a Black Russian, same thing just minus the milk.
Red Headed Slut - (shot of peach schnapps, shot of Jagermeister, cranberry juice) - quite good.
Canadian Lemonade (shot of Canadian Whiskey, sweet and sour mix) - one of my own creations. tastes like lemonade, but after a while you'll definitely start to feel them.

Different age groups drink different things ie. people in their 20's don't drink scotch .The most popular drink seems to be vodka cranberry.I find it to be a good all season drink...Gin and Tonics are a refreshing summer drink..also try a Malibu(coconut rum) and pineapple
