The story of where the Golgothan comes from:

It is named for the hill where Christ was crucified. A lot of people were crucified there and when bodies finally died they relax and release the bowels. From this hill with all the bowels of the dead that the Golgothan was born. There is no direct Biblical Reference... just a good imagination.

While the Golgatan from Dogma is not real, there do exist a sort of similar demon. Belphegor, one of the 7 Princes of Hell. Whom one made an offering to by sitting on the can. So in a sense, a **** demon. *Laughs*
