Have it done by a professional. They will know the best type of perm to use for your type of hair.

I wouldn't do a body-wave, do a full perm, but make sure they use extra-large rollers so you don't end up with an 80's hairstyle!

BTW - If you want to test out how it will look, go to a hairdresser and have them do a "Wash and Set" using perm rollers - If you don't like it, you can just wash it out!

I used to have long, straight hair. It was thick. But I went with a Spiral perm (or candlestick) and had my hair layered. It turned out great and it doesn't look like a perm from the Golden Girls either.

Make sure you tell the stylist what you want. If you can find a picture of the type of curl you want, then take it with you.
www.hair.com has alot of different hair styles and opinions.

Never home perm, always go to a stylist. Just remember that the longer your hair is the more perm she will have to use, the more money & time you spend in the chair.

Don't perm. It actually changes the structure of your hair and looks positively HidEous as it grows out.

My experience has been that I ended up doing MORE curling every day anyway.

please do not perm your hair cause if you do not like the way it looks guess what, your stuck with it until it grows out. i would just roller set it with some mouse. that should at least hold your curls till the next time you wash your hair. or buy one of those roller kits that heat up.
