Yes...
It's a city as many others in the coast of Turkey!
Depending on what you are looking for... this could be a great place to spend some time!

Yes, I have been to Altınkum for 6 months in 1995 and continue visiting every year. I worked in Hotel Ataç in Altınkum as a receptionist in the summer of 1995 and that was the most enjoyable summer in my life.
Altınkum means Golden Sand and the beach is really as its name. The sea is very pure and not deep, especially good for new swimmers. There are lots of cheap restaurants, cool bars near the beach and pool bars in the hotels. I visited every coasts and holiday places in Türkiye and definitely Altınkum is the cheapest one. Do not forget to enjoy Medusa Disco, its the best one in Altınkum.
But I have to say that the nite-life in Altınkum is not same as Bodrum, Marmaris or ÃeÅme becoz the bars are closed at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. If u want to enjoy till the mornings try Marmaris or Bodrum.
If you have any more question, do not hesitate to contact me by mail: aykal.info@yahoo.com
Good luck...
I agree with AllsTar above, Altınkum is a Little Britain :)))

Well yeah, ive bin there done that, it was awesome and it is in Didim.
Read this and more on http://www.altinkumland.co.uk/altinkumproperties.html
tho. There is so very necessary info on that tho.
ALTINKUM
Altinkum is a small popular resort situated on the Aegean coast. The name of the resort translates to golden sand and this resort certainly lives up to its name with three long smooth golden beaches, the sea is shallow for quite a long way out which is ideal for families with children who like to have a cooling time in the sea whilst their parents soak up the sun....
Plus, the last time i went there it was full with British fellows and tho. i was in a British resort until i saw a shoe polisher boy in the street asking if i wanted him to polish my sneakers in Turkish, lol. Regards:))
