Depending on your relationship with the child---are you a relative or just a friend of the parents?? If you are a relative I would say at least $50---if your just a friend I would say $25-$30 is good.

Trust me - the child is going to outgrow any and every gift within days, so don't waste a ton of money on expensive gifts. Just buy something simple, cheap, and something that can take a beating, if the child is a rowdy one.
A great gift is something that the child can grow into and appreciate later, to act as an heirloom. I've heard of a baby girl being given a pearl necklace that was not to be worn until her wedding day, and it only made that day more special for her. Don't be angry if the parents don't like the gift because "it's not something she can play with now", because it's not like the child can really tell the difference between a $3 teddy bear and a $100 special toy.

A one year old will not understand what a gift is or even realize that you did not give one. If it is the parents you are trying to please, you will have to take into account the kind of people they are. Either way, you should always give what you feel. A gift from the heart, such as a book you loved when you were a child, means more than an expensive toy.

Whatever amount you can afford is appropriate. The child will be the last person concerned with the price of the gift. If it is something that they can hold and drool on, the child will be totally happy and content.

possibly she doesn't recognize that the present is a touch thoughtless. She possibly doesn't recognize that you're already searching it puzzling with a cushty baby even as he spends time away. i does not take it too heavily, fairly once you do not comprehend for particular the point in the back of it... some moms like to get their grown-up sons interesting presents like this, they want to recreate the happiness an same present would have given even as the guy became a boy. possibly she misses him too. i does not take it as a own moderate. Your husband received't even want to go skating anymore. If it bothers you i'd say something on your husband like 'that became quite sweet of your mum to get you a skateboard yet i'm hoping you at the instantaneous are not gonna be out on it too a lot cos i want your help around the abode' quite a lot make it a funny tale yet attempt to embody the failings he likes too. possibly he might want to prepare the toddler even as that is older and it could be a interesting component that brings your relatives at the same time not drives it aside. i'm afraid i imagine you're growing to be pressure even as, from what you've suggested, it doesn't sound like his mom has a own component adverse to you. i does not interfere in her decision of presents notwithstanding in case you do not approve, that is going to easily create issues between you and your husband and then if she did intend to reason issues she will have succeeded. I understand that by technique of itemizing those products you're giving more effective guidance to get more effective perfect solutions yet going over those type of issues which have disillusioned you contained in the previous received't help the problem. you've the capacity not her, you've a clean toddler with this guy. attempt to commence afresh and and construct some bridges between your relatives and his mom any way you are able to for the sake of your baby. Be the bigger party.

I usually spend about $10.00. A baby toy, or an outfit. Never spend more than that. Or... you can NEVER go wrong with a gift card!!

It depends, on the item your willing to choose off the shelve.
And if you are will to spend more or less. They are happy
with anything you give them, as long as they like it.

Just buy him a toy, but if it must be cash, I'd say no more than $20.
