Where I live the County on Monday has a Recycling pickup area. They have a Trailer for, Magazines, Aluminum, etc. Then there a truck that takes the Electronics, such as, Computer, Printers, DVD, etc. I not sure what they do with them, but, the pickup is free. Maybe your State/County have something similar. May look in the Phone book Blue Pages under Recycling/Environmental.

Look in the yellowpages for your city. There are probably a few computer recyclers for that that will do it for you.
Thanks for thinking about the environment when disposing away your electronics.. way to much of this stuff goes into the landfills.

try going to www.freecycle.org. This is a site where people can advertise or request all kinds of things, for free - it's a recycling site and you just register for a local group. You might well find there are people who would like your dvd for the parts even though it doesn't work.

Tv set is produced to the cheapest common denominator - i.e., the common IQ of the general public, whereas a booklet is written to the highest common denominator

Take it to a recycling centre. They will take it apart and handle all of the bits in an appropriate way. Your local council website can give you the location of your local centre.

Put in on ebay stating *very* clearly that its broken, and you will be suprised who will want it for the bits / for a prop in a play / to dismantle for fun... etc.
