We pray for the sick and when they go back to the doctor many receive reports that the condition is gone. We want to write about the pastor's messages and include these publically spoken testimonies. Do we have to have a signed release from people? Would different things be required for members and non-members?

Yes it is always wise to ask the person in question to share their experience with others. If they don't want to don't hastle about it. Why don't you ask them to put into words, or write their experience, maybe they were misdiagnosed in the first place by the doctor you see, so you do have to be careful.

Personally I don't see a problem with it. But you might want to check with the person to make sure it's ok with them. For example, the formerly sick person, as well as the testators. I would assume it would be fine with your pastor if you quoted him, but again, make sure.
As far as legality, I'm not a lawyer, but I would think that as long as people have a way to opt out or not disclose their identity, and it's a "by subscription only" newsletter, it would be legal.

The person that gave the testimony may feel very personal about their experience and may not want it publicized. You should definitely get their consent and permission before publishing their account.

Actually, there have been scientific studies proving that there is no power in prayer. Prayer does nothing to cure sickness.

Well, to use names, i'd ask them. Just so they don't complain later when they say there names. But other than that, just leave out their name and share the wonderful story!!!

God Bless!
