Most of the non believers who bash regularly are jokers and aren't even serious about thier convictions. They try to get reactions. Serious non believers defend our beliefs against the serious bashing and offensive comments made by rude believers who actually mean the hateful things they say.

I am a Christian and while I may not agree with how other people believe I do not bash what they believe because I think how would I feel if someone trashed Jesus and how angry would I be. In college I did a report of religeons in the prison systems and the question was posed to me by my professor what about the situation in Guantanamo bay and I told him it is every humans right to believe how they wish to believe reguardless of how we believe. And in any way should no part of anyones faith be desicrated in any shape, form or fashion. Having friends who are athiests, pagans and muslims have taught me alot more about religeous toleranceeven though I may disagree with their faith.

The ignorant often find pleasure in inflicting misery upon others for their beliefs.
Often times this is due to them going through "withdrawal" from a religion they feel has done them wrong.
Other times non-believers bash believers simply to get their juvenile kicks. There is a rare few who do it because they believe they are trying to help the believers see that they are wrong by negative reinforcement techniques.

People who are insecure feel the inert need to make others insecure as well. That means viciously, tactlessly attacking them in an attempt to drag them down to the same hopeless level. Misery loves company, and when one is so miserable that one has to derive satisfaction from attacking others, the effect is magnified.
Religion is hardly the only thing this applies to.

The haters are hurt more than the hated. I just let hatred wash over me, and feel nothing but pity for these negative people...
"He who abuses his abuser is the worse of the two. To refrain from retaliation is to win a battle hard to win. If one knows that the other person is angry but refrains from anger oneself, one does what is best for oneself and the other person also. One is a healer of both"

everyone on here is biased to one particular belief or view; however, the question you just asked is targeted to atheists, so I'll address that. you religious people better hope that atheists are right about there being no god to answer to, because so many of you are just donwright nasty.
how do you get over yourselves enough to see that the majority of you are hypocrites. all of nothing is true, so for you to make a blanket statement like you just made only makes it worse.

Each believer in their religon or belief is trying to save the other from their sinful ways and a life in eternal hell, reincarnated as ant, whatever. They are trying to convince them that their way is wrong so they will save their soul, stop wasting time etc.

Charles Darwin was not religious and is not the founder of any religion.
But, to answer your question, we get truth out of explaining the lies and inconsistencies in religion.
