I'm planning to visit Napa with friends who haven't been there before and I'm looking for 3-4 suggestions on the Silverado trail. Preferably vineyards that won’t be too crowded. We all tend to like Cabs and Rhones.

Thanks

Try Sinskey winery. They make great wine and have a beautiful winery. They have a gorgeous tasting room staffed with friendly people. It's not overrun with people at all but it's not completely empty either. It's perfect! It's located at: 6320 Silverado Trail. Check out www.robertsinskey.com for more info. Have fun with you're friends!

Wow, where to start?? There's Silverado Winery (excellent), Mumm's (5 stars from me!), oh it's been a while since I've been upvalley. There are tons off Silverado Trail. Just pick and choose, none are really that huge and busy like Mondavi on 29.

However, if you come back to Napa on 29, stop by Krug, V.Sattui (great deli too), Grgich, and Sterling! Sterling has very good wine, and a neat tram that takes you to the tasting room on the hill. Cakebread cellars has also been a very good wine lately. And reds are very popular right now.

There are a ton of tasting rooms in downtown Napa. One card for $20 will allow you into all the other tasting rooms downtown and you get to try a variety of wines.

And while you're downtown in the Napa Town Center, hit the visitor's bureau. They have maps and recommendations.

Have fun here!

My faves are Pine Ridge (great spot for a picnic)---Silverado is also good, they have a great view of the valley since they are located up on a hill---Joseph Phelps is also a very nice winery with great views---all of these wineries have excellent cabs---
Check out the web site below, they have a good map.
Enjoy your trip!
