You're in a hurry, so the best way would be to buy one of the books which are on the market with conversational French on an accompanying CD. (You might be able to save money by borrowing it from the library!) The objective is to learn quickly. You should find it easy if you are a Spanish speaker, as your name suggests. You can then build on those basics when you return home. Bon courage!

A really good way is watching movies in french. That's pretty much how i learnt English and Spanish. Also, read some easy texts, open new document and write the words and the translations. then you can hide the translations and check yourself. If you want to learn it faster and more professorially, look for french classes, there are also online classes, just google it. And most important, Dont give up. It's hard at first but it gets easier as you go. Good luck :)

Go live in France for a few months, that's the most surefire way to. Not to mention the fastest you'll be using it all day everyday.

I've been using a combo of the Rosette Stone computer program and the Pimsleur audio program. those give you an all around understanding of the language. however, if you just want travling type knowledge, get a simple $10 program that focuses on just that.
