People do not have souls. They are souls. GENESIS 2:7 tells us: " And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Souls are not immortal-they die--EZEKIEL 18:4: " Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die."
EZEKIEL 18:20: " The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
REVELATION 16:3: " And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea." (Even fish are souls)
A soul can sin.-- LEVITICUS 5:1 " And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity."
LEVITICUS 5:4 "Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these."
LEVITICUS 6:2: "If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbor in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbor--"
Souls can eat:--LEVITICUS 7:27: " Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people."
There are many, many more Scriptures to prove that the soul is a person. We are all living souls.

The soul is combination of two things, the Body which God created from the dust of the earth and the Spirit which has existed always. When these two come together then it is a living soul. Just has Genesis 2:7 states. The breath of life is our spirit.

Good question! The soul was created ONE time. The soul is eternal, it does not die. The soul is an extension of God, The Creator, The Universe - whatever you want to call the Life Force. The body is the soul's unifrom, so to speak. It eventually dies. However, proper upkeep extends the life of the body. In today's time, we (as bodies) die as babies...and that's sad only because we haven't been taught properly what to do, what to eat, how to live and learning, in this society, doesn't rank high on the list. Oh yeah, where does the soul go? From my learning and experience, the soul upon a physical death can come back to Earth in the form of another (man, woman, animal, etc.) or if it is ready to move to a higher plane it goes elsewhere...and where that is, I don't know - right now. Good luck on your journey!

This is a great question. To each his own but for me this is where I am with it.
Since it was only after God breathed the breath of life into Adam that he became a living soul, then before that took place he must have only been a dead soul.
My soul is all of me except the part that gives me life. Without the breath of life I would not live. Even though all the components would be there, the body and all its parts, the breath of life is the energy force that causes me to be alive.
When I die, my body (soul) will be laid to rest in the ground from where it came, and the spirit (Gods spirit) will return to him.
Ecc. 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

The body is not the soul. The soul is connected to the body but only for a short period of time. The soul is anchored in the body with the first and last breath - its just that simple.
When a man dies he has the opportunity to return to God or the Source. However, because all that is eternal is our consciousness what we experience at the time of death depends upon what our beliefs are. For example, if you believe in hell and you think you deserve to go there that is what will happen to you. If you are an atheist then you go into the abyss of nothingness. What ever beliefs you hold when you cross over you experience that until you decide differently.
Our consciousness is all that is eternal...as our consciousness is our only link or thread to the soul. They are intertwined.
I can not help you with your bible verse as that is collection of fictional fable's not actual fact.

People don't all agree on the definition of the word "soul". I think of it as the same as my awareness or what some people would call consciousness. That makes my soul the real "me", the part of me that owns and directs and experiences the rest of myself as a living process. I have no direct evidence to suggest that I might continue to be aware after my body dies. As far as I am able to guess, when I die, I will lose consciousness and I will no longer be aware of being the individual person that I am while I am alive. Some religions claim that the soul stays aware after death and that it may enter another life (reincarnation) or it may go to a place of reward (heaven or paradise) or punishment (hell) or just an eternal waiting area (hades, purgatory, etc.)
I can understand that people take comfort in religious beliefs, especially the beliefs that help a person get over being afraid of death, but I honestly don't know what happens to awareness after death and I'm not sure anyone else knows either.
This may not be a very helpful answer for you, but it is what I really think.

The soul is in the body. It is not the body. The soul and the spirit are not the same thing. The soul is the electrical energy which operates the body. when the body dies the electrical energy is gone. The Spirit is the the part of man that has eternal life if you accept Jesus as your personal savior. Nothing lasts but the spirit and only if you accept Jesus.

Ya, There both soul and body are 2 distinct things, instead of soul you can call it also as Life force, which makes the body functioning(like petrol to car). once the life force leaves then body becomes a corpse. According to some other religious believe death is only for the body and the soul is iternal. It depends where the soul goes after the death of body. There are levels of realms the soul goes to depending on the attachment it has.

God created the body from the elements of the earth. After death the body turns back into these very same elements.
God breathed life into the body....once the body is done, dead, the soul leaves to rejoin God.

Man is a spirit with a soul(mind, will and emotions), living for awhile in a flesh and blood body. For a truthful viewpoint of the afterlife, you should read Luke 16, an account told by Jesus with insight into that realm.
