I only know North London and West End really...

For Pizza and great Italian food, cheap, try La Porchetta - Stroud Green Road, Finsbury Park, this is the best one in the chain (they have 4 I think)

For a great pub meal, which includes a fantastic venue, plus great wine list, try The Lord Palmerston, Dartmouth Park Hill, Tufnell Park, they do one of the best steaks I have ever eaten.

In Camden Town, there is one of the best Japanese restaurants in london, called Bento Cafe, which is located on Parkway, No.9 - see link for details - http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/reviews/7518.html

If your looking for a great kebab, try the Crystal Restaurant in Holloway, Holloway, just up from the Odeon, on right hand side as if your heading towards Archway Station, one of the best Lamb Shish Kebab's around, and cheap, however venue is a bit crap to say the least.

For fish and chips, try Toff's Muswell Hill, (36 Muswell Hill Broadway) - voted best numerous times, and the restaurant is fantastic, service brilliant and food quality exceptional, however you do pay the price.

For a great Sausage & Mash, and a very good fry-up, try S & M Cafe, 4-6 Essex Road, Angel Islington, very, very good, and more importantly, cheap.

For anything italian in central london, try Little Italy - 21 Frith St, and also Italian Graffiti - 163 Wardour St, two of the best and cheapest in W1.

That's all I can think of now, but Time Out is very good, should always try that...

Hope this helps, Ciao!

You mean in London? This could go on for pages (if only you could be a bit more specific!), but here's just some suggestions on the top of my head.

- Cheap bites: The Hamburger Union at Garrick Street is famous for making real fries. Burgers are decent too. 6-10 quid depending on how hungry you are. You can also grab a delicious jacket potato at Ponti's at Covent Garden Piazza - try the avodaco topping.

- Nice lunch / dinner: Try Browns at St Martin's Lane, Leicester Square tube. It's not as posh as you think, and it won't cost you a fortune. 15-30 quid perhaps. Although my absolute fave is Belgo Bierodrome at Kingsway, Holborn tube (not Belgo at Covent Garden). Moules & Frites, superyummy salads and any sort of beer you can think of. About 20 quid (if you stick to just a couple of pints)

- Posh: Rules at Maida Lane, Covent Garden. It's the oldest restaurant in London and serves real english roastbeef among others. And don't skip dessert! 40-80 quid, depending on the wine. It's worth it.

Oh, prices are per person.
Cheers

Depending on where you live & what type of meal you're hungry for. In my opinion The Outback Steakhouse & The Olive Garden are 2 good one's, as well as Applebee's & Red Lobster. If these are too pricey, then I'd go for a local "mom & pops" type restaurant. They usually have a good selection for decent prices.
Check out Racheal Ray's Tastey Travels, or $40. a day.

If you're looking for a really nice burger that will beat Mcdonalds then go to Gourmet Burger Kitchen, it beats all the fast food joints, for Noodles then Wagamama is good. I'm not really sure of anyplace else except for maybe a bit of home cooking ;-)

Anywhere but McDogburgers

But for London...

The Ivy if you have the money

Imperial China for great Dim Sum, Dim Sum only available at lunch

Wonkeys for cheap, but good chinese ... wonkeys is not the spelling but it's on Garrard Street.

Sorastro for an experience, especially at weekends when they have opera singers in

And strange as it sounds............. if you like Jazz go to the Pizza Express on Dean Street .... especially if Tim Garland is playing ...OK food is bog standard pizzas but the music is amazing.

EDIT

What is it with all the tossers saying home etc. you are obviously not a londoner so what do they expect you to do.

I've discovered that the absolute best place for a meal is in one's stomach, but I'm just silly that way.
