Should a straight person (man or woman here) take it as a compliment or be offended if they find out someone of the same sex finds them attractive?

I ask because one of my fiancée's gay workmates said he reckoned I was cute, and this not being the first time in this situation I have been wondering if perhaps I'm giving off ENTIRELY the wrong signals, or maybe not being masculine enough.

So no need to be rude Jizzmopper!

A man, especially, will get "creeped out" when another guy finds him good looking. If you are straight and you've been told by someone else that he (or the gay man they're referring to) finds you attractive, it's a compliment.

You may notice that most women don't have much of an issue when another woman tells them how beautiful they are. It's a "guy-thing" and it's a useless emotion. Let him know you appreciate the compliment and leave it at that.

EDIT: You've added more info in your question - here's additional info for you. Many gay men find straight men more attractive. You can take comfort in knowing that it's because you're straight acting, and this guy finds you masculine - that he's attracted to you.

Doesn't matter if the other person is straight or not, they are giving you a complement. So I would thank them for saying so.
If she then acted like she was coming on to me, then I would politely let her know that I am in a wonderful marriage, and I am not interested in another relationship with anyone. If I was still single, then I would just gently let her know that I am straight.
I know men usually get offended, but there really is no reason to. As long as you are secure in yourself, then it shouldn't be an insult to hear that another man finds you attractive. You should just say thanks, but I'm straight.

Why not take it as a compliment? Why on God's green earth would you be offended? I suppose it may be different if the you believe the person meant it as some sort of jab but otherwise, why not?

I'm not really that sure with this one.....if I knew the person was straight and gave me a compliment I guess it would be ok because I'm sure about myself, do i guess it doesn't hurt

This happened to me twice.

I was flattered just like I would have been if a guy found me attractive.

I'm straight so that's as far as it went....no hard feelings on either side.
