He didn't see the headbutt. Either way, I think Morales won it fairly and squarely.

In my opinion, referees are human too and are allowed to make mistakes. Joe Cortez is a good man, who I have met and spent some time with. I don't think when he called it "A punch" instead of a "headbutt" he was being malicious.
Manny was losing the fight and did not like the sight of his own blood, unfortunately getting cut is part of the game. I watched the replay of the fight and it was clearly a headbutt, but it was due to Manny lunging in face first.
Joe Cortez is one of the best Referees out there today Jay Nady, John O'Brien and Kenny Bayless are top notch too. Referee's aren't perfect and they are bound to make mistakes, look at how people have judged Richard Steele when he stopped the Chavez, Taylor fight on the last 3 seconds of the very last round. Hindsight is always 20/20.
