Bricks don't HAVE to be solid - there was a programme on the box only yesterday afternoon that in Spain they sometimes use hollow bricks because the only reason for using solid ones is for their insulation properties, and in hot countries people can use the hollow ones provided they understand that they aren't as strong.

A solid brick is very strong. However there are some applications where a solid brick is not required. You can have bricks that have 6 holes, quite large holes through them. These are often used for houses where strength is not an issue. Go to a builders merchants and ask to see the range of bricks and you will be surprised at how many types there are.

Bricks are made from dense matter such as the brains of blondes.

The process involves collecting a little amount of the dense brain from donors (like giving blood) and putting them in brick size trays. The trays are left in the sun to dry before being transferred into a kiln for baking at a high temperature......The blondes usually donate their brains regularly in return for a small amount of money.

not all bricks are solid. SOme have holes in them (I'm familiar with 3 holes spaced at regular intervals across the face) others are hollow (often as big blocks, common as grey in color. I forget the material). Overall, depends on the material, cost and climate. Hollow version and holey versions more often used in hotter climates and where lower cost is required. Holes can also help better application and binding of mortar.

Because it is made of molecules that maintain a strong bond with one another, restricting their capability for moving around.
Give it enough heat, and those inter-molecular bounds weaken against the heat vibration and that matter will become liquid.

it is a solid because it has a definite shape and volume opposed to a liquid which has a definite shape but not volume or a gas which has neither a definite shape nor volume

It's the simplest and cheapest way of making them - just mould the material and bake. It's not the most efficient, but it does the job.
