why do drug company's put pills in packages we can't open?

They assume you are smarter than the kids that they want to keep from swallowing medicine that can make them ill. If you can't open those foil-backed packs get a scissors and snip them open. That always works.

The other reason they use those packs is that those are medicines that are degraded by moisture - so just being in a bottle would ruin their potency.

Um, you're supposed to peel off the paper first, so the pill will be able to punch through the foil. The paper prevents accidental tearing of the foil.

Bottles are difficult for some people to open as well, as it requires multiple simultaneous movements and needs two hands to open. Children learn quickly, but at least they learn how to open bottles after they learn not to eat the first pill they see.

Some years back, some murderous scumbag opened up Extra Strength Tylenol bottles, opened up some capsules, and put cyanide powder in them, and put the bottles back on the shelf. A few people died.

The new packages are designed to be more secure against that sort of tampering.
