There are so many misconceptions about prayer in public schools that it's plain ridiculous....

Yes it's okay, and actually, schools MUST allow prayer. However, certain kinds of prayer are not allowed. Employees of the schools are representatives of the government and thus cannot lead prayers as it would be construed as government endorsement of religion. Schools may also ban prayer that is disruptive of the learning environment (praying aloud while the teacher is talking, for example). However, students (and teachers) are more than free to pray during times when class is not in session (before and after school, during breaks, etc.) or to pray silently whenever they choose.

Whenever someone tells you that prayer was banned from the schools is either ignorant of the truth or willfully lying to you. You can read the Supreme Court opinion in Engel v. Vitale to see for yourself.

Schools MUST allow prayer, so long as:

1. No school employee leads it,
2. It does not interrupt the classroom environment.

For example, the following are acceptable:

1. A general moment of silence
2. Students at lunch gathering of their own accord and praying.
3. As above, with a teacher joining BUT NOT LEADING.
4. Silent prayer to one's self before a test.

The following are not:

1. Administration lead prayer
2. A teacher-sponsored group meeting to pray.
3. A teacher leading a group in prayer
4. Interrupting the classroom environment by a number of students praying outloud, together, before a test.

Disallowing prayer entirely in School is an enforcement of Atheism. Just as a public school cannot enforce a specific theistic religion over it's students, so too can it not enforce an Atheistic religion over them.

I think it is ok myself..but my vote is one against a million.. Kids should be able to express themselves in prayer if they believe in God no matter where there at or who they are with..

Yes, we started the day that way, and we didn't have the problems we have today.
Most of us kids had guns back then because almost all the boys hunted, and some of the girls, we never thought of killing people with them.
Look back, was the schools better when God was in them or today without Him?

that depends.

is it okay for schools to allow children who worship the devil to slice open a goat and draw a pentagram on the chalkboard with it's blood?

if you're going to allow ONE religion to practice THEIR rituals, you need to allow them ALL to practice their rituals, and if you can't, then don't let anyone. simple as that.
