He does not wish us to fear him,it is but our human fear of the unknown,Our fear of the awesome power of God, an our fear of death of self.

The fear that is spoken of is the fear , or respect given to your father. Your father teaches you and sometimes has to discipline you when you stray from the path.
You also love your father as he loves you. The same with God, the Father.

It is a reverant fear...
"The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" -Proverbs 1:7
1 Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

The LORD confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them. Ps.25:14
~That doesn't sound like we should be afraid of Christ!
Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing. Ps 34:9
~ Again, I don't think that we should be running afraid. Christ offers many good things to those who fear Him.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
- Proverbs 1:7
I think all in all it means that we should know and understand how powerful and awesome God is. More being in awe than being in fear of Him.

The fear you are talking about isn't a fear you would have of like monsters, its a reverant fear of displeasing him. Like the way you feel when you are a little kid. "oh better not do that cuz daddy will be mad" Its like that. For more info that will help you go to www.watchtower.org

The bible says in proverbs, "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." If you fear Him, it shows that you believe in Him. And that fear leads you to investigate more which leads you eventually to come to know that He is so kind and merciful to all who seek Him. That's the only reason why the bible says that. It's not that He wants to you be afraid of Him.

the same reason u live in awe of ur parents. He loves u, but He wants u to know that He will not forgive everything, and u can not take Him for granted. U make a mistake and He will punish, U r good and u will b rewarded.

The Bible says God does not give you the power of fear. You should be in awe of God because He is the great creator. You should want to obey His commandments to please Him because you love Him.

its not a fear like that you have of a bully but that you would have of your mom or dad in disobeying their commands. Good parents are loving and caring but most children have some type of fear of their parents

not in fear of Him ,fear of sin.for if we don't make the right choices we bring the consequences of our actions upon our selves, this is not a punishment from God,but the results of our own actions.
