Is this advisable or is there a chance these two programs will interfere with each other ??

I think the only problem you will have is some lag. The two programs you mentioned both are heavy in resource usage. You may notice a significant performance decrease. If you didnt already buy those programs, I highly recommend AVG Anti Virus and Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are free and work just as good, or better than any program sold in retail stores.

The person who told you that they received trojans from Avast updates does not know what they are talking about. This person has trojans in their system from some other source.

In my spare time I test all antivirus and antispyware program to see if they perform as claimed. An also check to see if there are hidden embedded spyware/trojans in the program or the wizard installer they use to guide you through the installation.

The person who told you to use http://www.superantispyware.com does not have state of the art security in the system. If they did thier security would find that superantispyware free has embedded adware installed in their program.

Spyware Doctor is a purchased program. (I know the owner of this company an any one who tries to use a crack their computers are set up to track you. Plus their computers will know the instant you download that the key is not assoicated with your IP address. (Myself I tested their program and found it to cause conflict with my platform, Windows XP Prof., For examaple it destroyed Windows Media Player 10 and know it even after I reinstalled still would not get any sound. It was necessary to rollback to Windows Media Player 9 an I get my sound back now. Plus Spyware Doctors prevented icons on my monitor from opening. Otherwise the program works.

I have used avast for nine years in two computers an I never had one virus in either system.

Here is an excellent program, out of Austria. (The owner is a personal friend. Friends or no friends, if their programs are not state of the art technology, I will not use it, like Spybot Search & Destroy, owner is a personal freind out of Germany).

Here is the details for the program out of Austria, I use it with avast. There is no conflict and will protect you from rogue dialers an every other kind of malware. (I have ADSL).

http://www.emsisoft.com They will ask you for our email address so that they can send you a free personal key. Download load their A2Squared 2 free version. Excellent state of the art program that has no conflict with other antivirus/antispyware program. The scan they recommend to use takes time to run. As it performs an indepth search of your system for malware. Scans 195,000 objects in my system.
