have any of you done this? I personally think it is the silliest thing ever and would never even entertain the idea of doing it, but there is a book out there now and apparently you start holding your newborn over the potty until they go, and then praise them for going to the bathroom (at 2 weeks old) it is supposed to get the baby potty trained right away,

Opinions on this, anyone done it and had good results, anyone think its a crock?

Holding a 2 week old over the toilet is almost impossible to do
while supporting the kid's head and neck. Anyone who espouses this method of toilet training is --IMHO--- nuts and has never held an infant.

I have heard of people sticking their under-one year old child on the potty to "train" them early, but I think it is baloney at that age.

The reasonable "no diaper" method I have heard of is for toddlers and you do it during the summer. If you're sure the kid is ready to potty train, you take the kid in to potty frequently and spend the rest of the day in the backyard, sans diaper/pants. When the kid has to go you scoop him up and get him to the toilet.

The child is 2 wks old so I would say that is ridiculous and the silliest thing I have ever heard ! Who on earth is going to hold a newborn over a toilet until they go? You'd be standing there forever....you can't predict when a newborns going to pee, and they sleep most of the time at that age that would be disruptive.

You'd have better luck toilet training your cat or a dog.

I think it's RIDICULOUS....Using the potty is a big milestone in a babies life, Even in a parents life, It's a sign that their precious little one is growing up, And kids now days, grow up too fast as is, Why on earth would you want to rush that process?!?

Not only that, I couldn't deal with the mess!!! I have an 18 month old that I let run around w/out a diaper on occassion, And hate the messes he sometimes makes, Let alone letting him do it ALL of the time.

I think it's stupid! When your baby is a baby cherish that time with your baby don't make your baby hurry and grow up just because you want to save money on diapers and are too lazy to change a baby, I don't think it's possible and even if it was i rather spend my moments with my baby holding him in my arms cuddling then holding him over a potty chair.

Bad Idea!

I guess if you want to devote your entire day to holding your baby over the potty then feel free. I personally think it's crazy. Why not use all that wasted time to just enjoy your child. They grow up so fast, I don't want to miss a thing.

Well, considering that babies have no way of controlling themselves at all...they can't control their hand or feet movements and they sure as hell can't control when they pee. That is why there are diapers and even before huggies people used cloth for crying out loud. I think this is just some losers quest for 5 minutes of fame. He will never hit the best sellers list that is for sure unless people like Tom Cruise think this is a valid study and we all know how dumb he is!

The indians started this method a long time ago, and my mom who works with parents on teaching them developmental skills for thier babies thinks it's crazy, but said it does work! My son is 2 and not potty trained yet! On his way but not quite there!

I think your arms would bet very tired after a while.
I agree it is silly and unnecessary. Potty training is never a problem at the right time. Let the kid flush the toilet periodically, that will make him or her curious and they probably will want to be potty trained so they can flush the toilet after themselves.

Heard of starting it at 4-6mos about the time of solids. I know a baby that was taught to tug on her ear to go potty by 10mos. SHe was adopted from Korea if I remember correctly. You would have to tug on her ear everytime they use th bathroom. But what happens when you go to the store? Or they are sleeping?
