Much cheaper online! The further you buy in the future is much better. Google National Express to see the prices and routes. York is also an amazing place to visit, it's an old medieval city with over 2000 years of History. Medieval Walls in the city, cobbled streets and then you can visit nearby Yorkshire.

what about Brian Ferry (Roxy Music), actors Tim Healy, Denise Welsh, Jill Halfpenny (although strictly speaking she's from Gateshead area), and of course Robson Green. And if you really want some C list celebs there's always those 2 chefs who ride around on motorbikes whose cooking I wouldn't touch with a barge pole!

Apart from footballers, not many really. Of those who did become famous, they all left Newcastle to live in London and the south and who could blame them.

Among many others the industrial fathers of the modern world, George Stephenson (father of the railways) and his son Robert, C.A.Parsons (inventor of the steam turbine which is powering the generator which is providing your electricity), Lord Armstrong (hydraulic cranes and accumulators and much military gear), Charles Swan (the real inventor of the lightbulb), Ove Arup (architect of Sydney Opera House). Many others.
But maybe Sting and Mark Knopfler are the best known?
