Best and smallest are mutually exclusive. You want the best among the smallest? Pick a Canon or Pentax Optio. You want the best? Then you're looking big ... digital SLR or medium format. Big.

Sony or Canon. Don't buy an Olympus. I did and now the zoom doesn't work and can't take pics. Waste of money.

I have had three Canons, from the cheepie to the Elph and they all took great pictures. The Elph was the best.
