How you have come to the conclusion that the Hindu Idols are ugly. I think you have not seen any of them or you have seen some pictures or so. Actually the idols in the Temples are made of stone and they are given bath (Shower) daily with Oil and other things. so they appear Blackish. If you see the face and other aspects you will find them very beautiful. I do not know from which country you are and you should visit the temples in south India and you will really like them

All the figurine and statuary that you think are Hindu idols are not. For one thing idol imparts the onus that they are evil; IE Christians have icons................everyone else has idols.
Some of the statuary are of Gods, some are meant to be "ugly", some are of Past leaders or important people. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, I frankly find most of the Hindu statuary to be beautiful.

Hindus don't worship them so they are not idols. Some are meant to be ugly because they represent one of Brahman's more wrathful sides, while those that are beneficial are very beautiful. Hinduism is actually a monotheistic religion...

That's a very generalized statement. Pls do a comparative study of all idols of the Hindus' and then decide.....
