She's usually still very puppy-like. I'm stumped.

She is eating and drinking normally and up until about a month ago, she was playing like a puppy with my 3 year old shitzu. Now, she sleeps, a lot and wants to be held more often. She's the best dog I've ever had, so I'm extra worried about her.

Dog years are different than people years..dogs are very lucky if they live to 15 years..the average is 10 years..she's old..That's why she don't have any pep left..Ive been told it's 7 years for every one of ours..so she's 56 years in doggie years..She has had the best years..Hope this helped..

She's 8 years old. I think that about sums it up.

As long as she's eating properly, drinking normally, and there are no other signs of illness, I'd say she's just getting to that age. In all my dogs, I've always been able to tell when they've entered the next stage of their lives. Our oldest male has just left the puppy stage, and it seems so strange not to have him running around all the time, yapping at the silliest little things. It happened so suddenly. He turned one in September, and within two weeks, he got very quiet and lazy. . .lol.

She's considered a senior at this age. I would start feeding a pet food that has extra vitamins for older dogs. I would also suggest NuVet vitamins. They have all types of formulas. She could also have arthritis. Make sure she hasn't ingested anything bad for her. Sometimes pets can be responsive to their owner(s) down times. During a time of grieving when my grandmother passed. My dog barely barked and she was a schnauzer, they are known for barking at just about anything. Hope this helps.

She is getting older. Maybe she has a touch of arthritis. Is she still eating and drinking normally? Of course if you have concerns about your dog's health, you could take her to the vet for a checkup.

Because she's old. Could have arthritis. Have a full vet check.
