I direct this question especially towards Atheists. I would like to know your views on love. Why do you think it exists, and what purpose do you believe it serves?
-I'm a Christian and I believe this comes from God, but I am curious to know where you believe it comes from. Thanks

-Sinyckel I would have much rather you answered my question, but since you asked I'll share with you what I believe. God created Lucifer for a different purpose which was to serve Him, but Lucifer later defied God Almighty and so he went on his own way and took a third of the Angels in Heaven with him according to the Bible. God never intended for Lucifer to become what he is today, but God chose to allow Satan to make his own decisions and one day he will have to face judgment. Likewise, I believe God has created all of us and given us free will to make our own decisions, good and bad.

I think that love exists when you feel good and comfortable with the person and not afraid to say something that might hurt each other.

I would like to offer you the reverse. If you believe in a loving God who created everything, where does hate come from? The usual answer to this is "It comes from Satan." but didn't God make Satan too?
Edit: Well to answer your question... Love is an emotion, the roots of which we know little about. Any answer outside of that is dishonest at best. God, if we assume so, is the creator of all things, which includes evil, which implys duality, which negates monotheism. It is logically flawed from the start.

God is love and created us to love too. One person had a life after death experience where he died the same time as 3 others.

They stood before heavens gates and was asked the same ? one by one. The ? was, "Have you learned to love?" The little girl was one who loved Jesus & others so got a great reward. The other person also. An elder lady had loved Jesus, but unforgiveness prevented her from showing love to others. So Jesus let her into heaven but she didn't receive the reward the others received.

He returned to earth and has a book out that person can buy through Elijahlist.com.

I'm an atheist, and I believe that love comes simply from the heart.

It's too precious an emotion to be explained and rationalized. Love just *is*. Love is to be savored, experienced, and enjoyed.

Why cheapen it's beauty with rationalizations?

There are many types of love. However it amazes me how people can claim to love something they cant see ie-god and such like.

Purely a neurochemical response based on genetic predisposition, empathy and altruism, and on a non-conscious neurological cost-benefit analysis.
