I am a Southern Baptist and I do not believe in evolution. I do believe in adaptations but if humans are decendents from monkeys then 1) why are there still monkeys around and 2) why are people still not evolving?

We use the Book of Mormon to support Genesis. 2 Nephi 2 talks about what the meaning of the Fall in the Garden of Eden was. In fact 2 Nephi 2:15 it says, "And to bring about his (God's) eternal purposes in the end of man, after he had created our first parents, and the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and in fine, all things which are created, it must needs be that there was an opposition; even the forbidden fruit in opposition to the tree of life; the one being sweet and the other bitter." Feel free to read more of the whole chapter. Moses Chapter 2 in the Pearl of Great Price also chronicles the creation order in a manner similar to Genesis from a first person point of view. I don't have my book of "Mormon Doctrine" with me at work, but to the best of my knowledge, all leaders have used these 3 books to support the idea of creation. Having said that, I did have one Institute teacher who had a science background, and he said that it did not matter if God used evolution or not, since we as humans don't really understand how the world was created no matter how long we study it. I believe he used the term "creative evolution" or something like that. Or if God wanted to use elements which had been part of other planets, what does it matter? The important thing is that He created this earth, or as we say, Jehovah (Jesus Christ) created the earth under the direction of God the Father. Their purpose is one, to help man (and woman) achieve immortality and eternal life, to dwell with God again and at this time prepare for the Milennium under the reign of Jesus Christ. Have a happy day.

Some Mormons believe in evolution and others don't. There is an official statement by the presidency of the LDS Church from 1909 that is very detailed and available on line at:
http://eyring.hplx.net/Eyring/faq/evolution/FP1909.html
Many Mormons (including me) believe that the creation of the earth took an indefinite time called "6 days" in Genesis, but since the sun wasn't created until several days into creation, it doesn't seem reasonable to limit those "days" into our 24 hour time periods. Mormon leaders have occasionally pointed out that those who believe we are descended from apes have less zeal for genealogy than Mormons who believe we were created by God in His image.

The LDS people do not believe in evolution.
The Book of Mormon is simply a book about people who lived in the Americas and had sacred experiences with Christ.

Mormons (or latter day saints) Believe what it says in the bible. That God created the Earth in six days and to rest on the 7th.
The book of Mormon is not another bible and It's not an add on. It's another Testment of Christ- specifacally in North Amreica. Like the Bible is all about Christ's time in the Easten Hemisphere basically, wouldn't it make sense for him to come to North America and Tell of the Gospel?
Thats what we believe and I'm not trying to force my religion on you so please no one start bashing the Mormons

I think they actually believe in evolution. They have a very good anthropology program at BYU. But its kinda hard for them to deny it. They settled in Utah, were dinosaur bones are found all the time.
I have a lot of family in Utah, and all of them say the LDS church supports a loose translation of Genesis when it comes to the 7 days.

The LDS church teaches that men and women were created by God. Beyond that, the church has no official position when it comes to evolution. (I tried to find exactly who said it but since I can't, I'll just have to say that this is to the best of my knowledge).
