I bought this truck a month ago from a private party. here in california and I live in california. I've all ready had the registration changed into my name and insurance and everything, The licence plates aren't looking good.. paint is coming off of them and they are hard to read.. about how much does it cost to get replacement licence plates? (My registration is all paid up and current until next June)

Just go into the DMV and let them know you need new license plates. New plates should be free. (It's included in the cost of your registration) Typically I change my license plates with them when I purchase the used car. I just let them know I need new plates and they order them there for me for free. Sometimes they've asked me to turn in the old ones, but that's rare.

It is going to cost you about $32 to replace your plates and stickers. According to the DMV website the fee for replacing lost, stolen, mutilated, or have become illegible is $16. The cost of replacing the registration tags on the plates is also $16.
