when i was p[regnant with my first i told my doctor my entire drug use history, it was extensive. A few months ago I was dealing with excruciating migraines for weeks at a time, smoking pot was the only pain reliever to work for me, I told my doctor then to. No they can;t call you in on it, doctor patient privilege and all that jazz. Tell your doctor what you had been using and how much, as long as your not doing it know he shouldn;t have a problem with it.
they would not take your baby when it was born if you had marajauna in your system.
According to the book, Great Expectations Your All in One Resource for Pregnancy and Parenting, no link has been found between moderate usage of marajauna (a few times a month) and pregnancy complications. That doesn;t mean we should all go toke up, but so far no link has been found.

I think you are smart not to smoke pot while you are pregnant. That being said, if you'd like to read a study on children born from mothers who smoked pot while pregnant, check out this link.
This study was done in Jamaica, where the women smoke pot but don't do other drugs, and eat relatively healthy. I'm sure, as well, that the pot they smoke is organically grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

I also used pot up until the day I found out I was pregnant. My Ob/Gyn already knew I was a pot smoker.I was told after the fact that I was tested 3 times throughout my pregnancy and they tested my daughter at birth.
Don't tell your doctor is the best advise I can give. You shouldn't smoke while pregnant if for no other reason then if you are tested they could take away your baby!
Other I know smoked throughout pregnancy and their kids are fine. I didn't want to take the chance.

I also used to smoke pot when I was a teenager, I quit when I was pregnant with my son I also quit smoking cigarettes, my doctor actually had all of her patients sign consent to be randomly tested for all drugs and would refuse to treat anyone who screened positive for anything. I do not understand why anyone would continue to put any kind of drug into their body while growing their child. As far as what you found, when my older sister was pregnant with one of her daughters she claims her doctor, though he did not encourage it, said that pot use is potentially less harmful than nicotine to an unborn child. As far as telling your doctor, I think thats up to you, the fact that you are no longer doing it says that it will clear out of your system and not affect your child but couldn't hurt at all to let your doctor know about your past use. Congrats on the baby btw!

First smoking pot while pregnant is just like smoking cigarettes while pregnant and it is up to you how you feel about those risks.
Your doctor can't turn you in and tell him you want his opinion about your past history and then judge his reaction as to how much info you want to give him.
Doctors are generally against any type of smoking or drug intake as it is introducing chemicals to your unborn child. I smoked when I was pregnant not pot but cigarettes my doctor told me to cut back as much as possible but to not quit it would be more of a shock to my system at that point.

your doctor is concerned with your health, not whether you're a criminal or not. unless he finds out you're hurting others, you're not going to get in trouble.
and smoking pot while pregnant is a really bad idea. try to eat healthy, and avoid caffiene, nicotine, alcohol, etc. the worst thing you should be eating is sugar and fat right about now, and those are things your body needs to live.
just fess up to the doctor, as long as you're not doing it while the baby is inside you, you'll be ok, and so will the child.
pot isnt as bad for you as heroin or something, but there are those out there that want to make it legal, so they'll just tell you theres not any harm in it at all, which is incorrect. whether its legal or not is not the point, pot is harmful to you. again, its not as bad for you as crack or meth or something, but that doesnt mean its harmless.

Your Doctors is not going to turn you in- It's not their job. Their job it to make sure yo uand your baby is healithy, and that's what their going to do. Too few poeple tell their doctors everything they should and it bits them in the butt later. PLease don't hesitate to tell you doctor of your drug use. No matter what some stupid docotrs say Pot is not good for you or your baby. You baby could come out deformed (like no lungs) Have very complivcated problems, or become addicted to the stuf, so when they come out and don't get any drugs they just cry and cry. So thank you for stopping.
And CONGRADULATIONS!! You seem to be a really strong and lovable woman to give up pot for your baby, and cold turkey at that- I commend you for you efforts.

Speaking to your dr is what needs to be done, period. I don't think your dr will call the police on you because you are pregnant & making good on a promise not to smoke. He/She will most likely want to do a toxicology screen to see what drugs you have ingested & whether or not the blood levels are decreasing. You cannot blame him for that - he/she needs to look out for the baby & you both. Take responsibility for your past actions & make sure everything is safe for your baby.

*Medical* marijuana has been approved for use during pregnancy. Note the word medical.
Marijuana can be used to treat many conditions including severe morning sickness. Also there are many studies that prove it is safe in moderation and most of the studies that show it was dangerous were flawed. Because we all know marijuana is very very evil /sarcasm.
That being said NEVER take any drug during pregnancy if you don't need it. That includes marijuana, alcohol, tylenol and yes even caffiene. It is always safer to abstain, but if you need to take something to treat a legitimate illness than of course you take medication.

Everything you tell your doctor is confidential unless you threaten to kill yourself, threaten to kill someone, or hurt someone else. Which in this case its neither. But I would just like to warn you about pot use in some pregnancies. My friend smoked pot when she was prego and her baby had wide spaced eyes and had a big bump on his head which was caused by smoking pot. Remember when you smoke pot you dont know exactly what your smoking and where you got it from. Also, another case is where the baby had dwarfism from smoking pot. My advice is to think about your baby. Would you want something to do something to your baby that could harm them? Id juss wait till after the baby was born then continue with the pot smoking.
