good question! theres so much to learn. remember, you only have control over yourself, but pay attention to the others on the road. for a few weeks, no freinds in the car until you get adjusted to doing everything without a distraction. sorry, this means no (or a very quiet) radio, too. always check your blind spots (physcially turn your head and look, to make sure no one is there. i know this sounds dumb, but i was almost in a seriuos accident because someone didnt check their blind spots.). use your mirrors. always be looking around. for petes sake, follow the speed limit. your age group (i would assume 15-18, particularly new on the road) has the highest vehicular mortality rate. why? because you speed, and dont know what youre doing yet! no street racing. but if you must, wait until you know your car well enough to control it and know how to handle different situations that arise. dont change the cd while youre driving. if you must do something of the likes...pull over, then change it. theres so much more, but you kinda have to figure some of this stuff out by trial and error. good luck and be sure to have fun, safely! :)

Being a new driver as you are, I suggest not having friewnds along in the car to influence you to do things you wouldnt normally do and also, done drive in heavy traffic times or highways until you get comfortable and more experienced

Just be aware of your surroundings. Even if you're a good driver, you can't control other drivers on the road.

Always check your blind spot. Make sure you adjust all the mirrors before you drive. Pay attention to driving, not the radio, your friends, etc.

My daughter is just starting to drive. We're going to enroll her in a driving school. I think practice with a qualified instructor is the best way to learn. I'm also going to buy her this drivers ed DVD: http://www.vat19.com/dvds/rotr.cfm?select=rotr&productID=820658651924&affiliateID=www.dmv.org
