When my hair was that length I enjoyed my spiral perms...they are easy to manage and don't pull your length up. Remember, whatever you choose the tighter the curl the shorter your hair will appear. I also like body perms...just some body and wave, but in my experience they don't last as long. When you get your perm it will relax after a couple of weeks...so if you get too loose of a perm when it relaxes you won't have the look you want..so allow for that. My advice for you is a spiral...and tell your beautician the size of curl you are wanting AFTER it relaxes...she will know what size roller you need to allow for this. Good luck!

I dont think perming is good idea,
and it is so 80's too :-)
It can damage hair, especially dark hair that is subjected to much strong sunlight and it might lead to premature greying.
Also a perm can take a lot of maintenance, usually needing it when you have the least energy or time to attend to it.
A perm generally makes your face look rounder which unless you have a very long face this might not be flattering.
A better alternative might be a bouncy feathered and layered cut, which looks really modern and doesn't need any care nor does it damage your hair.

The kind of perm you should do is dependent on a few factors:
- the length of your hair
- the shape of your face
- the texture of your hair (because it decides if the perm can hold)
Your best bet is to go to a professional and let them design the perm for you.
Good luck!

It really depends on how curly you want it. If you want it wavy then just get a body perm, but if you want it really curly, get a spiral. But just remember your hair is going to be much shorter when it is curly
